Q: Why did you choose such organizations as Keep A Child Alive?
A: When I was around 12, it was a huge time in my life that shaped who I am. Languages always change. The Oxford Dictionaries are always adding words. Last year ―duckface‖ was added. Also added were ―lolcat‖ and ―five-second rule‖. From the above we can see the internet is indeed a source of word development. Like all other languages, American Sign Language (ASL) has to include new words that appear from it . New signs turn up. They are shared and discussed. Some become popular. Finally, dictionaries reflect (反映) the language change. The difference is that ASL doesn‘t have one official dictionary.
Bill Vicars is hard of hearing. He owns a company called Lifeprint, which offers an ASL dictionary online. There are plenty of resources online to share signs. He said:
―First, I do a ?literature review.‘ I compare many respected sign language dictionaries to see how the, sign is shown in those dictionaries. Sometimes, the dictionaries conflict (冲突) with each other but finally a dominant (主导) sign tends to show up.‖
―After doing a review of the literature it is time to interview some deaf adults who have rich experience signing. I make it a goal to ask at least ten advanced deaf signers how they do it. The next stage is to consider how the sign is done in other locations and decide which version(版本) is more ..widely used. The last stage is to post the sign online to my website, where it is open to the examination of thousands of people/ many of whom then email me and tell me their version is better.‖
―We see different signs until one appears as the agreed – upon sign by the deaf community,‖ he explains.
But still, it requires discussion until one sign appears as the best. Sometimes it takes a while. But in time, there will be a wholly accepted sign, for a certain word.
28. The underlined word ―it‖ in the first paragraph refers to ________. A. the dictionary B. word development C. the internet D. ASL 29. What‘s the second stage of Bill‘s work?
A. Do a literature review. B. See for himself how deaf signers do the sign. C. Think about how to do the sign in other places. D. Compare different sign language dictionaries. 30. After the sign is posted onto his website, Bill will ________.
A. receive different suggestions B. shut down and then examine his website
C. be angry at peopled bad opinions of his sign D. immediately turn his sign into another version 31. How is a sign accepted by the deaf community? A. By repeated discussion. B. By using communication skills. C. By giving explanations. D. By holding academic meetings.

Yours ever Li Hua 写作(One possible version): A Seaside Holiday
On October 5th, 2017, I, together with my fellows, spent a nice seaside holiday. On arriving there, all of us jumped with excitement, because this was our first trip to the seaside. The clear sky, the soft beach and the beautiful sea deeply attracted us, making us feel refreshed.
We had great fun at the seaside, swimming, playing volleyball and having a big picnic on the beach. I took many photos of the amazing scenery, which I will treasure forever.
When it was about the time to go back home, we had to leave unwillingly, expecting to come again. I could say that the seaside holiday was both relaxing and wonderful.
