Introduction

1. small talk 闲谈 聊天 big talk 大话 talk talk (吹)牛皮 大话 back talk 顶嘴 an empty talk 空谈 a heart-to-heart talk 谈心 2. make + 宾语 + do

3. (1) sound like + n. It sounds like a train going underground.

辨析:sound , voice,noise ---sound指任何能听到的声音 the sound of music音乐之声

the sound of breaking glass打碎玻璃的声音 ---voice指人的说话声或唱歌声 She has a sweet voice.

---noise指较大的使人不快的声音 Stop making so much noise!

4. refer to(prep.) + n./pron./V-ing. 提到 谈及;参考 查阅;指示指代;涉及 refer → referring → referred When we met last time, he referred to you. 提到 谈及 Please don’t refer to your books when you take an exam. 参考

If you don’t know the meaning of the word, you can refer to a dictionary. 查阅 What I said just now didn’t refer to you. 指的是… This book refers to something about DNA. 涉及

Vocabulary & Reading

1. impress v.具体含义“印,压印” impress … on … 把…印在…上/里

抽象含义“使印象深刻”impress …on/upon one’s mind 把…印在…脑子里

impress sb. with sth.= impress sth on sb. 某物给某人留下印象
