Thereareabundantoilandgasresourcesintheworldwidedeepwaterareas,andtheexplorationandproductionindeepwaterhaveexpandedgreatlyduringtheseyears.Approximately58Bboetotalre2sourceshavebeendiscoveredindeepwaterfrom18basinsonthesixcontinents.Nowadays,deepwateroilandgasresourceshavebeenbroughtintoproductioninBrazilandtheGulfofMexicoofAmerica,andtheoutputisrisingsteadily.ThedeepwaterdiscoveriesinWestAfricaareatthedevelopmentofplanningstages.Withanincreasingnumberofexplorationwellscompleted,andincreasingcapitalex2penditure,offshoredrillingisgoingintodeepwaterandultra2deepwater,andsignificantreservevolumehasbeenaddedeachyear.Theglobaldeepwaterexplorationsuccessratewas30%,whichwasthehighestinWestAfrica.Indeepwaterareas,thepotentialforsourcerocksindeepwater,andWorld2classsourcerockshavebeenfoundinJurassicand;mostofthere2sourcesfoundtodateareinturbiditesandstonegenerallypresentindeepwaterdepositionalenvironment;trapstrappingcomponents.Thebasininnortherncontinentalslopeinthetopara2passivemarginbasin.Fromsourcerocks,reservoirs,topsealsaccumulationconditions,thegeologicalcondi2tionsarefavourablefor,thusitishopefultofindoilandgasfield.Keywords:;theSouthChinaSea
