Traveling from the United States
Whether you are an American citizen or a foreign national living in the United States, travel abroad requires preparation. Travel may be for the purpose of attending meetings or activities in other countries, visiting families or simply taking a vacation .This page is intended to provide guidance and useful resources.
What information do U.S citizens need?
Depending upon the requirements of the country to be visited, citizens of the United States need to carry a passport that is valid for six months beyond the visit or documented evidence of their citizenship and identity (身份). Current information on passports is available at the Department of States Passport Services and Information website. There is a new passport requirement for U.S citizens traveling between the United States and the rest of the Western Hemisphere(半球). For details, see Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.
When traveling to some specified countries, U.S citizens may be subject to restrictions on publishing, the

The laptop computer（便携式电脑）is popular all over the world because it is small enough for us to put on the upper part of our legs. People use them on trains and airplanes, in airports and hotels. These computers connect people to their workplace. In the United States today, they also connect students to their classmates.
Westlake College in Virginia will start a laptop computer program that allows students to do schoolwork anywhere they want. Within five years, each of the 1500 students at the college will get a laptop. Westlake College has started a large computer program for its students. With laptop computers, the students will be connected not only to the Internet but also to libraries. In addition, they can use e–mail to “speak” with their teachers, their classmates, and their families. However, the most important part of the laptop computer program is that students will be able to use computers without going to computer labs. They can work with it at home, in a fast–food restaurant or under the trees--anywhere at all.

Unemployment may be one of the biggest problems our people as well as our government are faced with today. According to an official report, in one big city alone, since 1986, nearly 1,000,000 adult workers have lost their jobs because of factory closings and cutbacks---either temporarily(暂时) laid off or permanently forced to retire.
Many people, especially the policy makers, believe that forcing adult workers, those who are over 45, to retire is an effective means to relieve the tension of unemployment, for it can provide more job opportunities for the jobless young. But they fail to notice that forcing a person who is still able to work and has a family to support to retire brings serious financial problems as well as emotional and physical ones. They also fail to realize that actually, workers aged 45-60 tend to be more stable, more skillful and more experienced than workers of any other ages, that to some extent this age is the prime time for one?s productivity and creativity. To force them to retire is a huge waste of the nation?s best resources. On the contrary, if we turn our attention to the other end of the age line, a more effective way might emerge. Today, only 3% of school-leavers are allowed to go to college, leaving the majority of the young people under 18 without adequate preparation to join the labor force. Most importantly, we should not be satisfied merely to solve the problem of unemployment, but rather, we should improve the quality of the work force at the same time-by keeping the skilled adults and accepting the well-educated young.
