Passage 74 total:76 words
Without a blood supply organs deteriorate rapidly. Cooling can slow down the process but cannot stop it. Organs differ in their sensitivity to damage. At body temperature, permanent destruction of the brain occurs after more than three to five minutes; of the heart, liver, and lung, after 10 to 30 minutes. Although the shorter the time the organ is deprived of its blood supply, the better, every minute is of vital importance for an organ transplant.
