When in a classroom, students may be required to speak their mind. They may be required to give presentations or speeches. They will have to work in groups with all kinds of people with many differing viewpoints. Online courses require none of that. Businesses often tell university faculty that they wish graduating students had more interpersonal skills. They say it is crucial to success in their careers. Traditional style learning teaches these things. Now obviously if businesses are telling universities they wish these skills were more evident, there is room for improvement. Still, online courses are not the answer. If anything, online courses will only hurt a students ability to speak and interact with others in a way that will help them in their life and career.

When students are required to interact with classmates and professors, they gain confidence in their ability to speak and interact with others. It grants them the opportunity to learn how to carry themselves in a professional manner. Because online learning can't do this, it's value to a student is significantly lower.

Lack of Memory and Learning Development

Why do many students sign up for online courses? Well, one reason is of course the fact that they do not have to attend an actual class and can learn at home. A more serious, unspoken reason however may be the fact that online learning does not require the student to study or memorize material in the way that traditional learning does.

Students taking a test or quiz online do not have to worry about a professor catching them cheating. Students have the ability to use a book and quickly look up answers online. Even while many tests are timed and many professors don't mind the use of a book on certain things, is this really the way a student should learn? When someone does not have to study and memorize material, it does not embed in his or her long term memory the way it does when they do study it. This is a serious flaw with online courses. It does not promote memory development. Students may not realize it while enrolled in a difficult course, but they will better appreciate the education they receive in college if they are required to put in more effort in obtaining it. A child does not learn how to spell by looking up words in a dictionary, he memorizes the words using flashcards or something similar. This is what enables him to actually learn.

Lack of Student Motivation

One problem with online classes is that all too often, they motivate us to get a degree, but not to learn. Having debates and in class discussions with multiple professors who all have unique personalities motivates students to develop their own opinions. It motivates them to want to voice their opinions. If a student is scared to voice his or her opinion, the classroom is the place he will practice overcoming that fear, not online.

When students receive face to face verbal feedback and constructive criticism from their professors, it instills in them a motivation to not want to let their professors down. It is the relationships and bonds that are formed that give face to face learning an advantage over online learning.

Motivation is a skill that cannot be developed when students are allowed to complete task at their own leisure. They may get the work done, but this does not teach a student how to complete task under the pressure of time. During their careers, they will need to complete task in a certain amount of time on a whim when they are told. If a professor assigns a paper at the start of class and requires it be handed in at the end, that is good preparation for a career. Reading about a similar assignment online that is due in six days doesn't teach this.

Make the Smarter Choice

There are some things that need to remain the same as time goes on and societies evolve. Education is one of them. While there is an argument that online learning allows people to learn at their own pace, it is still not as valuable as the education obtained from a traditional style classroom. Keep in mind, this is only true if the teachers and professors are good at what they do and if the student is willing to learn. If not, then regardless of the method, nothing will be learned. It just does not make sense to pay for online education when you gain more skill sets and knowledge with traditional style learning (which is typically less expensive).

12. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Young people know

more about the modern world than their parents do. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

你同意或不同意下面的说法吗?年轻人比他们的父母更了解现代世界。使用特定的理由和例子来支持你的答案。

I don’t think young people know more about the modern world than their parents.

First of all, parents have more social experience and practical knowledge than young people. In the second place, although young people spend more time and energy on computers and smart phones, they do this just for entertainment, it doesn’t mean they know this world better than their parents. Last but not least, nowadays most of young people are spoiled by their parents, they don’t understand the hardships and difficulties in this relentless and unforgiving world.

13. Should Tianjin try to preserve its old, historic buildings or destroy them and

replace them with Modern buildings?

天津是否应该保护其古老的、历史悠久的建筑,或将其摧毁,并用现代建筑取而代之?

Some people believe that older places and historic buildings should be replaced by newer modern constructions as a necessity of modernization while others believe that these places are parts the architectural heritage of the place giving the city some kind of personality it needs. The first attitude has been the stronger one widely accepted for a rather long period but people are fortunately changing their minds and accepting the logical idea.

The historical buildings’ most important roles are their cultural effects. I believe rapid changes are harmful to societies as a community is as susceptible to severe changes as a human being. The old places act as a memory for society. When people see their cultural and historical background everyday on their way they will not forget their traditional virtues. However this essential effect has been ignored in many countries, blindly seeking

modernization. For example this happened in our city, Tehran. Tehran had 8 very beautiful gates on different sides of the city border. When government decided to extend the city farther, they were unfortunately destroyed. Today if you take a trip round the city you will find nothing telling you the story of this city. In contrast you will find historical notes and guides all around Paris in every street or square. You may notice a sign denoting that a well known scientist once lived in the street you are passing or you may even see one saying \many people were killed during the revolution.\

Another really beneficial advantage of keeping these treasures is their tourist attraction. Nobody travels all the way round the world to just see a big skyscraper. But each year thousands of people go to Egypt to visit the Majestic Phoenix. That is because they really understand what is worth spending time and money on! Our

country's Capital, Tehran, is a so-called modern city in contrast to Isfehan, a very ancient and historic city. When you go to Isfehan you are amazed at the historic sights to the degree that you do not want to leave there. But when someone has to travel to Tehran just to do some official work in an organization, he just tries to escape the horrible place.

So as a conclusion I believe it is better to keep the historic buildings even if it might block some advancements. You do not have the right to destroy a building in order to give way to a new highway under construction. Considering it’s cultural and financial {Can these two things be contrasted?} Damages you also have to keep in mind that these historic places do not merely belong to this generation. Our children can blame us for the destruction of their ancestors’ legacy, which was truly theirs.

14. Do you think it necessary for China to hold large conferences and activities such

as the Olympic Games, APEC, and Expo? Use specific examples to support your ideas.

你认为中国有必要举办奥运会、亚太经合组织、世博会等大型会议和活动吗?用具体的例子来支持你的想法。

As we all know, Olympic game is a sacred activity. So there will be a lot of benefits for being a country to hold the most important sport event in this world. First of all, it has a major effect on the economy in that country, because the huge amount of people will come to the host country for attending this event, they are providing a good opportunity for the development of tourism and some other related industries, so that the host cities will also be permanently improved. Normally, the athletics will be more confident and achieve good result due to the host factor, so when they obtain a certain reward, they will also win the respect from other players, and this will definitely bring international prestige to the host country.

1. Encourages Investment in Transport and Infrastructure.

Major sporting events usually require upgrades to transport and communication links. This investment leaves a lasting legacy for the whole economy. Better transport links reduce congestion and help to improve efficiency for local business. It can help increase the productive capacity of the economy (shifting aggregate supply to the right). For example, for the London Olympics in 2012 we have seen new rail links created in East London, and improvements to existing underground and over ground train services (London Olympic rail networks)

2. Influx of Foreign Visitors.

A major sporting event like the Olympics can attract 10,000s of people for the duration of the games. These foreign tourists bring a boost to the local economy. In particular the local tourist trade, shops / hotels will benefit from the surge in visitor numbers. However, it is worth noting that these visitor numbers tend to be temporary. The major sporting event only lasts for a few weeks; potentially there could be many empty hotel beds in the future. On the other hand people argue a major sporting event can lead to a long term growth in visitor numbers. e.g. China felt the Beijing Olympics created a feeling that China could be a popular tourist destination. Barcelona saw higher visitor numbers continue after the Barcelona Olympics of 1992.

3. Job Creation

Typically, major sporting events require investment in building stadium and hotels. This creates jobs for the local economy for up to 4 years before the event. These extra jobs help create a positive multiplier effect amongst

the local economy. It is hoped that the London Olympics will help regenerate the east end of London. Some argue this temporary job boost can prove more permanent, if the economic regeneration continues after the games.

4. Higher Economic Growth

It is estimated that the ‘Olympics Effect’ leads to a boost in economic growth due to the higher investment and foreign visitors. This leads to higher tax revenues for the government

15. Take-away Apps on mobile phones are more and more popular nowadays. Some

people believe that we are becoming lazier with the use of them. What do you think of this phenomenon?

手机上的应用软件外卖现在越来越流行。一些人认为我们在使用他们的时候变得越来越懒了。你对这种现象有何看法?

With the modern technology developing, the mobile phone becomes more and more popular in our life. Sometimes we find out that we could hardly do anything without it. We keep in touch with those we know by phone. We call our friends to discuss where and when we meet. We call the restaurants to order take-away food. We even have meetings through the phone with our coworkers when we can't come back...It's no doubt that phones make our life more convenient and effective, but it makes us lazier at the same time. More and more people complain that people today are not as close as we used to be. So you see, everything has two sides--positive side and negative side. We can't blame the phone. We just need to find a balance.

16. In your opinion, what are some of the qualities of a good parent? List reasons

and specific examples to explain why these characteristics are important.

在你看来,好父母的品质是什么?列举理由和具体例子来解释为什么这些特征很重要。

Parents are important part of our life. Whatever in our childhood or in the future life, parent can never be replaced. When we were in danger, parents protect us as much as possible. When we face the problem, we can call for parents to help us. However, a parent only have love is far away from a good parent. How can one be considered as a good parent?

First of all, the respect that children receive is of primary importance. Although we are possibly still a little cub in parents’ eyes, we always want them to treat us as adults. Whether in expressing some views or in making some decisions, we hope they can respect or accept our opinions. For instance, if parents always want to pry into their children’s privacy, even sometime we do not know, we are angry when hearing this situation. Then we may argue with our parents and do not trust them any more. Respect is the basis for a good relationship between parents and children. 尊重

Moreover, understanding is also a significant quality. When communicating with us, parents should try to view things from our perspective. Maybe we have different opinions regarding whether some things ought to be done like that. We both expect we can understand ourselves. Therefore, good parents often try to understand what children think or how they feel. 理解

Finally, in this day and age, especially in China, a couple of families only have one child. Spoiling children is commonplace. Having love is a beneficial stuff. However, if parents indulge too much love on their children, it will be harmful for their development. When some children do something, they may never consider the result and nev

er shoulder the responsibility. Good parents can affect their children maximally, including their behaviors, words and ideas. When growing up, how can we face the trouble and educate our offspring. Those are what we learn from our parents. 不溺爱

Respecting and understanding children and give the appropriate love play the pivotal role.

But there are sill some other words.some people is against to it .For the simple reason that college is a place for us to get accustomed to sociaty gradually We should not be too eager to it . Moving ahead steps by steps is the truth.

From my perspectives, doing part-time jobs is an excellent way to exercise ourselves,The sociaty is more than dangerous On if we are aware of this and exercise more in advance , can we behave more matrure when we meet with troubles .

Doing part-time jobs can polish our life and help us flying higher and further.

19. Suppose some foreign friends are coming to visit you in Tianjin. Are there any

places that you would like them to see?

假设有一些外国朋友来天津拜访你。你想让他们看到什么地方吗?

Tianjin has historically been an important port and doorway to Beijing, being 120 kilometers away from the capital. By boarding on a bullet train at the Beijing Southern Railway Station, it now only takes around 40 minutes to get there. The blend of Chinese and Western cultures also forms Tianjin's distinctive tourism resources. Listed as one of the first groups of outstanding tourist cities in China, Tianjin never loses its appeal to visitors– from mountains, rivers, lakes and the sea to springs, wetlands and local delicacies.

Here are some of the top places to visit in the city. 1. Haihe River

As the mother river and symbol of Tianjin, the Haihe River, 72 kilometers long, runs through the city and out to the Bohai Sea. Rising over the spectacular Yongle Bridge is the Tianjin Eye, an iconic ferris wheel which lights up the city every night.

For history lovers, dropping in a visit to the Historical Museum of the Five Avenues helps to get an overall understanding of the history of the area, and also a closer look at about 1,000 items used by the prominent residents who lived in the buildings.

As a national 4A level tourist attraction, the Taida Aircraft Carrier Theme Park is a large military amusement park located in the Binhai New Area. The area integrates marine military culture and Russian culture, with Kiev, the retired aircraft carrier from the Russian navy, being the park's biggest drawcard. Over the past ten years, the tourist attraction has seen an increasing number of visitors. 4. The Ancient Cultural Street

The Ancient Cultural Street is a commercial strip filled with a wide variety of shops selling traditional folk handicrafts, including the Yangliuqing New Year paintings and the Niren Zhang painted sculptures.

20. Do you think it is a good idea to offer free bus service to the elderly? Why or

why not?

你认为给老年人提供免费巴士服务是个好主意吗?为什么,为什么不呢?

Providing our senior citizens with free public transportation will encourage them to ‘make the most of it’ and will not be using their cars, which means fewer car accidents on our roads. Elderly people need the public transport, mainly because we need fewer of them driving on the roads to reduce the amount of crashes and accidents that have occurred previously.公共交通更环保

Eldery people are getting old and have weak bones. It's harder to travel on feet. And it might be hard to get money. We should be kind and generous and give them free bus rides. No matter how much space they take or how mean they are, they're getting old and at the end of their days, we can at least help them a little. They have trouble carrying their bags and things like that and I think we could help them out. So I think we should give them free bus rides so they could get where they need or trying to go.

Expend the respect of the aged in one’s family to that of other families; expend the love of the young ones in one’s family to that of other families. 年老体弱需要我们的帮助
