Indonesia is home to four of the world’s worst polluted rivers and ranks second when it comes to plastic waste. Since single-use packaging is a large contributor to the problem, Evoware, an Indonesian-based company decided to handle that issue first. And now a kind of edible(可食用的)packets has been invented.

B. He didn’t keep his
After investigating various material options, the company settled on seaweed. Seaweed does not require resources like water, or large amounts of space. According to Evoware, as much as 40 tons of seaweed can be grown in an area the size of a baseball field. It also helps absorb harmful greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide. Since Indonesian farmers already harvest more seaweed than they can sell, it is easy for the company to find the material.
Though they will not make public their production process, Evoware announces the seaweed packaging contains no chemicals and is safe to consume. In addition to wrapping fast food items, it can also be used to house things like instant noodle seasoning(调味品)and instant coffee.
Though the edible wrappers may not have any taste, the same cannot be said about the single-use cups that the company has also invented. The single-use cups that can be used to serve cold drinks are available with the taste of orange and green tea.
While replacing plastic with the seaweed products may seem like a no-brainer to most of us, it is a hard-sell in Indonesia. According to Christian, “The awareness, understanding, and sense of urgency to minimize the use of single-use plastic are still very low.” Also a factor is the cost, which is higher than using plastic.
Hopefully, Evoware will succeed in convincing Indonesians, and people worldwide, that switching to their products will go a long way in protecting our beautiful planet.

The researchers from the University of Liverpool have now spotted smoke rings in the ocean which have the power to suck in the small marine creatures and have the potential to carry them at high speed for a long distance.
In the ocean, the vast eddies(旋涡) span up to hundreds of kilometers across and are a common event relatively. But now, to the researchers’ surprise, these giant eddies(which were named “smoke rings” later)were spotted spinning(旋转)in opposite directions, travelling up to ten times the speed of the normal eddies. The smoke rings are cut in half by the sea surface due to which the researchers could see the two ends of the half ring on the sea surface.
Described in a research paper published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, the smoke rings were discovered by analyzing sea level measurements together with sea surface temperature images from the same time and place taken from satellites.
“What we found was a pair of eddies spinning in opposite directions and linked to each other so that they traveled together all the way across the Tasman Sea, taking six months to do it,’’ shared Chris Hughes, lead author of the study published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. “The smoke rings require an area of calm water to expand, which itself is quite unusual. I have looked at other areas of other oceans but I have only seen them in the oceans around Australia, plus one
in the South Atlantic,” he added.
The smoke rings require a calm water area to form, which is quite unique in itself. The team said that there are still a lot of things that they need to understand about how these linked eddies turn into one. They guess that these eddies might join up when two smoke rings hit each other in the ocean. 32. What has made the researchers amazed?
A. The vast eddies can span up to hundreds of kilometers. B. The giant eddies spin in opposite directions. C. The smoke rings come into being on the sea surface. D. The smoke rings have killed so many marine creatures. 33. How did the researchers find the “smoke rings”? A. By taking a close look at the sea surface. phenomena in the sky.
C. By analyzing the data from the satellites. level movements.
34. What does Chris Hughes’ words imply in the text? A. The Atlantic Ocean is too rough to create smoke rings. B. The birth of smoke rings needs a unique setting. C. No one actually knows where the eddies form. D. Smoke rings appear across the South Atlantic. 35. What is the best title for the text? A. Smoke rings threatening marine creatures. influenced by smoke rings. C. The formation of smoke rings. the ocean.

Everyday mistakes can raise your risk of catching a cold. A virus spreads to over 50 percent of surfaces when a single person in a place is infected. 37 Even after you wash your hands, use a towel to turn off the tap. 38
Your phone screen is dirtier than you thought, because it picks up germs from whatever surfaces you lay it down on throughout the day. Plus, your hands can transfer germs to your phone as well as other objects you touch regularly but probably don't clean, like your car keys or computer keyboard. You’d better use bleach-free disinfecting wipes(不含漂白剂的消毒湿巾)to clean objects and other surfaces at the place you often stay. They get a flu shot
Out of the 12 things that need to be part of your DIY flu-fighting kit this winter, a flu shot is probably the most important. According to the CDC, the single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated(接种疫苗)every year. 39 The flu shot isn't perfect but it's your best bet. They get together with friends

likelihood you'll stay healthy, according to a research. The human body adapts to whatever environment you expose it to. When you expose the body to a positive environment, supportive friends and family, and work on stress relief with laughing therapy, the body experiences less stress and this has positive health benefits. Socializing can even help you live healthier and longer.
