1、I’ve recently started biology. 我最近开始学生物了。 recently adv. :not long ago, lately 近来 recently与完成时连用。例如: He has been very busy recently. 他最近一直很忙。 The new railway station has been completed recently. 新火车站最近完工了。
2、I really enjoy it, but I’m tired of so much reading. 我的确喜欢生物,但我对大量读 课文感到厌烦。 be tired of:be no longer interested in对某事感到厌烦。 We were tired of his conversation. He is tired of living abroad.
3、Have you considered using the lab in your free class? 你考虑过在可以自由活动的 课上利用实验室吗? consider vt. :think about考虑,思考 在consider作“考虑”解时,通常与动名词短语连用,表示“考虑做某事”。例 如: We have considered building a new lab. He is considering changing his job. Jenny considered buying the IBM PC 486. 注意consider作“考虑”解时,不与to do连用,但可以跟“疑问词+不定式” 作宾语(如how / what / when?to do)例如: Have you considered how to serve the society? We haven’t considered when to start. consider除作“考虑”解外,还作“认为”解。例: We considered him (to be / as) an honest man.
We considered the film (to be) exciting. Nobody considered him to have stolen the wallet.
4、I suggest you ask Mr.Wu. 我建议你去问问吴先生。 suggest vt. :say an idea to be considered建议,提议 suggest作“建议”解时,宾语从句中的谓语多用“should + 动词原形”,其中 should可以省略,而只用动词原形,如本句也可以写成I suggest you should ask Mr.Wu. 又如: I suggested he make a decision at once. They suggested we not waste any more time. He suggested that the houses be built as strong as possible. The farmer suggested they plant more corn there. 此外,suggest还可跟名词或动名词作宾语,例如: Our monitor suggested a way out of the difficulty. The teacher suggested reading some world-famous works. I suggested his doing it in this way. 注意当suggest不作“建议”解而作“暗示、表明、说明”解时,所跟的宾语从 句不用(should)do 的谓语形式。例如: Her expression suggested that she was angry. The dark clouds suggested that it was going to rain.
5、You don’t need anything special. 你不需要什么特别的东西。 当形容词修饰不定代词something, nothing, anything, somebody, anybody等 时,这个形容词通常放在这类不定代词的后面。例如: Is there anything special in today’s newspaper? The headmaster has something important to tell us at the school meeting. We found something interesting in the experiment.
6、Then grow some tomatoes in one box?. 然后在一个盒子里种些西红柿?。 Then see which plants grow higher,?然后看看哪些秧苗长得高些,? 第一句中的grow是及物动词,作“种植(花或植物)”解;第二句中的grow 是不及物动词,作“生长、成长”解。例如: The villagers mainly grow rice. (种植) Rice grows mainly in the south.(生长) He had watched me grow from childhood.(长大) 此外,grow还可以作连系动词,意思是“逐渐变得”,后面跟表语,例如: Truth never grows old. It grew too hot that one could hardly sleep at night.
7、You must weigh it carefully. 你必须仔细称它的重量。 weigh v.:to find the weight of, to have a certain weight 称?的重量,重? They weighed the apples they had picked. The goods were carefully weighed before they were shipped off. “How much does the box weigh?” “ It weighs six pounds.”
“How much do you weigh?” “I weigh two pounds less than I used to.” weigh的名词形式是weight, 形容词是weighty。
8、?measure them with a ruler 用尺子量它们(西红柿秧的高度)。 measure v.:find the size, length, amount, degree, etc.; to have a certain measure 测量?(的大小,尺寸等);(?的大小、尺寸)的测量为? Did you measure the distance? It measured forty-two point three metres. The tailor measured me for a new suit. This cloth measures two metres. measure也作名词,意思是“大小,尺寸,度数,措施”,例如: The tailor made the suit to my measure. The government took strong measures to help prices down.
9、Why don’t you do the experiment?你干嘛不做这个实验呢? “做实验”既可以用do,也可以用make。 下列动词短语用do ,不能用make代替: do one’s homework do housework do some cooking do some reading do some shopping do some washing do some cleaning 下列这些词组中用make,不能用do代替: make an answer make an explanation(作解释) make a suggestion make a mistake make a choice(选择) make a friend make preparations(做准备) make repairs
10、It was lovely to hear from you. 收到你的信很愉快。 lovely adj.:beautiful;very pleasant 美好的;可爱的;令人愉快的 She is a lovely girl. We had a lovely time. 注意lovely虽以ly结尾,但不是副词而是形容词,像lovely这样以ly结尾的形
容词还有:friendly友好的;lonely孤独的,偏僻的;orderly整齐的;有秩序 的;lively生动的;deadly致命的;weekly每周的;likely可能的。
11、I don’t enjoy it at all. 我一点儿也不喜欢它。
1) not?at all:not in any way一点儿也不,at all常用在否定句中作“完全”, “根本”,“丝毫”解,以加强语气。又如: I don’t agree with you at all. He was not tired at all after the long journey. 2)enjoy:find pleasure from 喜欢,享受?乐趣 enjoy与like近义,并都可与名词或动名词连用。例如: I enjoy the novel very much. We enjoy swimming in the river.
表示喜欢还可以用be fond of,喜爱的程度比enjoy强,fond是形容词,可以用 very修饰,而like, enjoy不用very修饰,而要用very much。如: He is very fond of light music.
12、I thought it was going to be fun. I also thought that I would make lots of friends. 我 原以为新学校一定很好玩,我还以为我会交上新朋友。 这两个句子中I thought都跟宾语从句,这两个宾语从句的时态都是过去将来
时。过去将来时表示从过去某一时间来看将要发生的动作或将要存在的状态, 通常用于主句的谓语动词为过去时的宾语从句中。过去将来时由would (should)
+ do或was (were) going to + do构成。例如: They said the car factory would bring more jobs. He told me that he was going to prepare for his trip that afternoon. We were sure there would be great fun at the party.
13、I find it hard. 我发现(交朋友)很难。 it代替上句中的to make new friends在句中作宾语,hard在句中作宾语补足语。
这个句子的结构是“主语+动词+宾语+宾语补足语。用在这个句型中的动词常 有find, feel, think, make, consider。例如: I found the story interesting. We feel the job important. We think the measure necessary. I consider him honest. The child made his hands dirty.
14、?they get along very well with each other. 他们彼此相处很好。 get along with 与??相处 How are they getting along with each other? 注意区别于go along with,这个词组的意思是:“与?一道走”。 Will you go along with me?
15、I tried my best to be friendly. 我尽力对他们表示友好。 try one’s best:do one’s best; try in every way竭尽全力,极力想尽一切办法。 They tried their best to bring down the price.
16、This is secret, so please don’t tell anybody else. 这是秘密,请不要告诉其他任何 人。
1) secret adj.:kept from the view or knowledge of others 秘密的,他人不知 的 secret n. sth. secret秘密 These plans are secret. The little animals live in a secret hiding-place. He never keeps anything secret from his friends.
上面3个例句中,secret是形容词,分别在句中作表语、定语、宾语补足语。 在下面例句中secret作名词。 Their plans remains secrets. His secret of success became an open secret. 2)anybody else:any other person其他任何人 else作形容词,意思是“别的”、“其他的”,常同somebody, anybody, anything,
nobody, nothing等不定代词和who, what等疑问词连用,置于不定代词或疑问 词之后,else的所有格是else’s。 Have you got anything else to say? Nobody else understands me as well as you. Who else is going? What else do you want? It’s somebody else’s book. It isn’t ours. 17、I used to get along very well with my cousin and we used to be very good friends. 我 过去同我表弟相处得很好,我们曾经是好朋友。 used to是情态动词,只有过去式,used to do / be 表示过去经常做某事或过去
的状态,现在已经停止了。否定式是used not to, use(d) n’t to, 也可以用didn’t use to. 疑问句是Used sb. to do?? 或Did sb. use to do?? 例如: We used to write to each other. The polluted river used to be very clean. There used to be walls around the city of Beijing. He used not / didn’t use to like mutton. Used he to like beef? Did he use to have a walk? You used to be good friend, use(d)n’t you / didn’t you?

1) 在英文中,有时在表示否定的意思时,不直接用一个否定句来表示,为了

达得委婉一些,常用I don’t think后与一个肯定的宾语从句连用。例如: I don’t think you are right. I don’t suppose I shall be back before nine o’clock. I don’t think we need worry about it. I don’t think that’s a good idea. 2)invite vt. 邀请 We were invited to join the game. invitation是invite的名词形式,作“邀请”、“请柬”解。 The man went to the party without invitation. He received an invitation to the dinner party.
19、Is it a reply to the first or the second letter? 这是第一封信还是第二封信的复信? reply n. v.:answer 回答,答复
reply比answer正式,一般指经过思考的,有针对性的详细的回答。 reply与直接引语或从句连用时不带to,与其他宾语连用时要加to。例如: I haven’t reply to his letter. “I don’t know,” he replied.
20、First of all, don’t worry about being short. 首先,不要为个儿矮烦恼。 worry about 担心,烦恼 Mother worried about his health. The old man has nothing to worry about any more. worried adj. 焦虑的,烦恼的,担心的 He has a worried look. worried作表语时常有如下搭配: be worried, look worried, feel worried
21、Talk about a visit to a place of interest. 谈论一次参观名胜的活动。
1) 在这个句子中interest为不可数名词,作“兴趣”解,常与动词have, take, feel,
find, show, lose搭配,后面搭配介词in。表示“对?有兴趣 / 失去兴趣”。例如: Mr. White has / takes / feels / finds no interest in politics. As a boy, Edison showed special interest in science. He lost interest in such things. 2)a place of interest 名胜 During the summer vacation they visited several places of interest.
