Project Writing a report

一、 教材分析

本课为译林版《牛津高中英语》模块五第二单元Project Writing a report——Protecting the Yangtze River部分,话题与环保有关,平时学生已通过各种媒介了解了有关环保的信息,所以在处理课文时,充分利用了多媒体,通过图片、视频等途径让同学们了解长江的现状及对周边乃至整个中国的影响,激起了学生的环保意识,再让学生阅读文章,分组讨论,最后要求学生写一篇有关环保的报告。 教学重点:

1、通过阅读找出各段的主旨句。 2、通过讨论提出治理长江的建议。 3、写一篇关于环保的报告。 教学难点:

1、培养学生环境保护的责任感和使命感。 2、培养学生用英语组织信息,写出一份报告。 教学准备:

教学之前运用百度在网上搜索长江的相关教学材料,了解教学重点和难点,确定课堂教学方法,制作多媒体课件。根据课堂教学要求用百度搜索关于长江的图片和视频,作为导入时创设情境之用,让学生产生浓厚的学习兴趣;并运用百度搜索关于环境保护的视频和文字资料,帮助学生分析、思考,进而制定探究项目。

二、 教学方法

在本课教学时为了突破重难点,我充分运用了百度搜索,搜索了许多有关长江和环境保护的图片和视频,制作成多媒体课件,以小测试形式导入,呈现给学生大量长江的背景信息,然后学生通过阅读文章了解长江现状、污染根源和环保措施几个方面,唤醒学生的环保意识,最后进行课堂小结,总结写报告的结构,并让学生在小组讨论的基础上写一篇报告。

三、教学过程

第一课时:Reading —— Protecting the Yangtze River

Step 1 Lead-in

At the beginning of this class, make a quiz to test students’ knowledge about the Yangtze River. Meanwhile, show students some pictures to arouse students’ interest. [设计说明]

(1)通过QUIZ的形式引出本课的话题,一方面,检查了学生的预习情况,即课前搜集长江的相关信息,同时,增强了学生参与的积极性。

(2)通过图片和视频,使学生真切体会到长江的重要性,增强学生保护长江的意识。 QUIZ 1. What are the three longest rivers in the world?

2. How many provinces does the Yangtze River run across? 3. How long is the Yangtze River?

4. What is the location of the Yangtze River?

5. What are the three gorges of the Yangtze River?

6. What is the rare Chinese mammal in the Yangtze River? Step 2 Fast-reading

Divide students into groups and ask them to read their assigned paragraph and report the main idea of each paragraph. Paragraphs 1 2 3 4 5 Main ideas The Yangtze River has raised concern because of problems of pollution. Environmental organizations and projects have been set up to deal with the problem. Two special government projects are also under way to protect the river. The second environmental project was set up to protect the white-flag dolphins. The environmental situation of the Yangtze River is slowly improving. [设计说明] (1)要求学生快速浏览课文,找出主题句,也可以用自己语言进行概括,获得主旨大意和清晰的线索。

(2)培养了学生快速阅读和归纳总结的能力。 Step 3 careful reading

(1)使学生在掌握文章结构的基础上进一步了解细节知识。

(2)用框架概况文章,降低了难度,能帮助学生更好的理解全文。

(3)观看百度搜索的视频,增强了保护长江的紧迫感。 Step 4 Discussion

(1) 通过概括长江面临的问题,培养学生综合概括能力和英语表达能力。

(2)通过讨论保护长江的措施,引导学生关注环保,增强学生的环保意识和责任感。 (3)两个讨论问题的设置也为报告的写作结构作了铺垫。 Step 5 Structure of the report

Read the article again and analyze the structure of it.

总结文章结构,帮助学生明确文章框架结构,为学生接下来的写作提供参考。

第二课时:Writing a report

以小组为单位,学生将自己收集的资料和讨论的结果,经过分析、归类和整理,最后以写作的方式展示。 Planning

Now let’s work in groups of four and discuss the questions and then decide on a topic for your report. Preparing

Now sort the information you have got. Have a further discussion on what to include in your report. You may refer to step 1 and step 2 for some information. Producing

Group members who are responsible for writing the report should write it based on the outline. All group members should edit the report, pay attention to some aspects listed. Then you should proofread it at least once, correct any mistakes and add more new ideas. Presenting

At length, each group should rewrite the report and review it. After checking once more for mistakes, each group presents your report to the class. And each group puts your report on the display wall of the classroom for everyone to see. [设计说明]

(1)通过百度搜索的文字资料,帮助学生确立写作的话题。

(2)通过小组合作,培养学生探索问题的能力,综合概括能力与英语写作能力,同时也培养了学生的环保意识。。

六、教学反思

本节课的教学对象是高中二年级的学生,他们已具备了一定的分析归纳和解决问题的能力。学生的学习主动性和语言能力都比较强,能够积极配合老师的指令完成本节课的学习任务。因此,本课的总体思路是通过图片和视频的呈现,以小测试的形式引入文章主题,激起学生的学习兴趣,使学生通过听、想、看等活动熟悉课文的主题。阅读活动由泛读和寻读构成。所设计的问题围绕长江污染现状和针对污染问题采取的措施,着重培养学生分析文章的能力,探索深层次的问题,唤醒学生的环保意识,并明确报告的写作结构。最后通过分组讨论,赋予学生足够的机会去开发自己的思维空间以及增强动手写作的能力,激发学生学习英语的热情。通过本课的教学,作为老师我使学生能够认识到环境保护的重要性,使学生们树立了正确的价值观,但是,我意识到学生的写作和语言表达能力有待进一步提高。
