In Prison Studies, the author Malcolm X tells his own story of studies in prison, He believes that his brilliant impression is due entirely to his prison studies.
He start his true learning career because he admired Bimbi’s talent in prison . Initially ,he could not even reading and writing some easy words ,so he read a book just for show until he received the motivation that he did. He began to see that the best thing he could do was get hold of a dictionary to expand his vocabulary. It was inevitable as his word-base broadened, he began to understand what the book he picked up was saying. When he could make sense of a book, he found that a new world was open to him, so he loved reading and even couldn’t have gotten out of books with a wedge, he read books in any time he could. He thought he never had been so truly free in his life when he was reading. In prison ,he realized that reading had changed forever the course of his life. Today, his ability to read awoke inside him long dormant craving to be mentally alive. He had a strong desire that the black could gain entirely freedom like the white.
After reading this essay, I believe that if someone want to become outstanding he can learn in any place and in any time .as the proverb goes “ nothing is difficult for a willing mind, if you want ,you could conquer all the obstacles until achieve your goals”.
