Public sign 公共标志（公共标示牌） should 应该 （shouldn’t=should不应该 ）
What does the sign mean?
No smoking (严禁吸烟) : It means you shouldn’t smoke here. smoke 吸烟
No littering （严禁乱丢杂物）: It means you shouldn’t litter here. litter 乱丢杂物
No parking （禁止停放车辆）: It means you shouldn’t park here. park 停车
No eating or drinking （禁止吃喝）: It means you shouldn’t eat or drink here.
No + V-ing: No taking photos 禁止拍照 No swimming 禁止游泳
Danger （危险）: It means you should stay away from it. stay away from 远离（不靠近）
Do not touch （严禁触碰）: It means you shouldn’t touch it. touch 触，碰
Keep off the grass （不接近草坪）: It means you shouldn’t walk on the grass. Keep off 不接近
Be quiet （保持安静）: It means you shouldn’t make noise. Make noise 发出噪音（声响）

(1) can (否定 cannot=can’t) 能
① 表示具备的能力（体力，脑力）：

（2） may (否定 may not) 可以 ① 可能性
◇ I may be very busy tomorrow. 我可能明天很忙 ② 也许 (比can 更为委婉些)
May I come in? // May I have a look at your new toy? 回答： Sure / Certainly / OK. (一般不说，Yes, you may) No, you mustn’t 不，不可以
（3） must 必须 (语气强于should) (must not=mustn’t 绝不能，不可以，一定不要)
① 表职责，义务
Everyone must loyal to his motherland 每个人都必须忠于他的祖国。
Students must work hard at his study. 学生应该努力学习
② 主观上感觉必须要做某事情。
It’s too late. I must go now. // You must do your homework at once.
Must I clean the classroom now? No, you needn’t. 否定回答一般为needn’t.
我现在必须打扫教室吗？ 不，你不需要。 （ Yes, you must）
③ 表禁止 （否定句）
You mustn’t talk to her like that. 你不可以象那样和她说话 Cars mustn’t park here.
(4) need 需要 （否定 need not=needn’t） Need I help that girl? 需要我帮那个女孩吗？ You needn’t go there today.
(5) should 应该，义务 ( 否定 should not=shouldn’t) (6) would 表愿望
Would you tell me your name?
The boy wouldn’t let the doctor come. 这个男孩不想让医生来。

Good morning, everybody. Can you see so many signs in my hands? There are so many? Right, they are public signs. Today I’d like to talk about the public signs. Now look at the first one. Can you often see this public sign outside? This is the first letter of a word. The word is~~park. Now it means you shouldn’t park your car or bike here. So if you find this public sign. You’d better take your bike or car away, or someone will punish you, haha. Look at this interesting sign, it’s very easy for you to understand the meaning of it. It means your shouldn’t make noise here, because someone will be disturbed. Do you like swimming? I can swim very well. Look at this sign. Obviously, it means your shouldn’t, you mustn’t swim here. Perhaps some places are very dangerous, please remember???..
