If you’ve already signed up for summer reading, type in your username and password above. If this is your first time here, create your own account first. You’ll only have to do that once. Beginning June 11, track the time you spend reading. Friday, August 9 is the last day to record reading time. At sign up and when you reach 10 hours and 20 hours, come to the library to collect a prize. If you continue to 30 hours of reading, you’ll be entered in our grand prize drawings. The final day to collect prizes is Saturday, August 17, 2014. Prizes are available while supplies last and must be collected in person.

Who is eligible? Teens must be twelve years old on or before August 31, 2014, to participate in Teen Summer Reading. To be eligible to win prizes, participants must be residents of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library service area or hold a valid, non-resident CML library card. How much should I read?
We all read at our own pace, but we encourage you to read at least 30 minutes each day. What can I read?
You may read anything you like. We just want you to read! Magazines, newspapers, recorded books, Internet pages, and books ( even the ones your school assigned you to read ) count in Teen Summer Reading.

从我们初中毕业到现在,已有好长一段时间了。你近来好吗?
我真的很喜欢在新学校的生活。我遇见了很多新老师和新同学,他们对我都很好。你还记得我以前是多么讨厌学英语吗?但现在我对它简直着了迷。难以置信,是吧?我以前从未想过一位老师会改变我对英语学习的态度,但这事确实发生了。
米尔斯先生是我们的英语老师。我印象最深的是他对教学的热诚。他总是在课前充分准备,在课上把他要讲的东西演出来。上课时,他在教室里走动着,利用手臂、手和手指帮助讲解,还利用他的面部表情来表达他的情感。根据所讲内容的不同,我们总能听见他声音大小、音调高低的变化。在他看来,如果师生在一堂课上没有几次会心的笑声或至少一次开怀大笑,就不是一堂成功的课。由于他的幽默,使得我们的英语学习更有趣。而且,他利用油画、唱片、漫画、幻灯片等辅助物,让我们用一种极富想象力的方法来学英语。今天上午,他还在课上唱了一首歌来解释一条语法规则。此外,更让我钦佩的是他经常在课后与学生们在一起,用英语交谈从因特网到流行音乐的不同话题。有一次,他还找我们班的一个同学比赛下中国象棋。
