US president Barack Obama(美国总统奥巴马) gave a speech about US schools months ago. He said that US students need to spend more time at school.
“I think a longer school year is necessary,” he said. He said US students spend less time in the classroom than children in other countries.
Some education experts(专家) agree. They say US kids should spend more time in the classroom so that they can catch up with students in other countries.
“Students in other countries are better than US kids in learning,” said education expert Arne Duncan. “If you practice basketball five times a week, you’re going to be better than the people who practice three times a week.”
