There was a famous temple on a high hill in Assam. The priest (神父) of this temple was widely respected. When he grew old, he started searching for a younger priest to replace him after his death. However, much to his disappointment, he could not find any suitable person. On a recent Sunday, I was buying groceries in a supermarket when I heard the sound of a car accident. It was close but not very close, so I continued shopping.

From the passage we know that the writer witnessed a car accident and found no one wanted to help the injured driver, feeling helpless and guilty. As a result, the driver died on the road.
I was greatly shocked by the people?s reaction to this accident. People present there had different attitudes towards it, but they refused to lift a finger even when the injured driver sat up to wave to passing cars. If I had happened to be present at the scene, I would have come to his help and sent him to the nearest hospital or called for help by dialing the telephone number of an emergency center.
