The Aging Population in China The table tells us that the population aged 60 and above will keep going up. In 1990, the population aged 60 and above was 97.19 million, which took up 8.8%. And 2020 will witness the rapid increasing of the number , which will jump to 230 million, accounting for 15.6% of the whole population .What’s more , the population will increase to 410 million in 2050 , accounting for 27.4%. What causes the problem? First of all, the declining of birth rate contributes to the growth of the old. Besides, people’s lifestyle and attitude towards life has changed .In the past people had several children for their old age, whereas now they only raise one child because of the one-child policy. As well as the birth rate, the declining of the mortality rate also affects on the increasing number of the old people. With the growth of the aged, many problems will emerge. Because of the decrease of the young, the social productivity will be affected. In addition, the middle age is unable to care for the aged family members adequately. Moreover, it will put extra pressure on national finance. 姓名:李崇岭 学号:1120101540 班级:06111002
So what can be done to solve the problem? At first, community service must be completed. For example, we should establish an impeccable medical assistance system. Furthermore, a sound social security and welfare policy should be carried out to improve the public health and create a comfortable environment for the elderly. Last but not least, our country ought to develop the economy to build a solid economic foundation. As far as I am concerned, we’d better try our best to develop the economy to create a really comfortable environment for the old.
