Today we had a class meeting, because an earthquake hit Wenchuan Sichuan on May 12th, 2008. Most houses fell down in some villages. Many roads and bridges were destroyed. People even couldn’t use their telephones or mobile phones to have communication with their friends or family members. Some parts of Sichuan suffered from it and thousands of people were killed, hurt, lost or trapped. Our teacher asked us to give donations. Our classmates donated all of our pocket money. A serious earthquake attacked Wenchuan and some other areas in Sichuan Province on May 12th,2008. Most of the buildings fell down and a lot of people were homeless. Thousands of people were badly hurt or even lost their lives. The people in disaster areas need food, drinking water and medicine.
All the world, including the whole china felt sad about the serious disaster. Actions are taken actively to help the people in need. Our school organized all

Yesterday, American government announced that Diaoyu Islands belong to Japan. This announcement shocked every Chinese.
Diaoyu Island and the adjacent islets have been China's territory since ancient times and China has incontestable historical and legal evidence on this. Diaoyu Islands like a baby which is an important part of the motherland. As a patriot, I deeply condemn the injustice of American government. The Itching Diaoyu Island Issue causes different reactions in both countries.
Chinese oversea students in Japan say that the Diaoyu Islands Issue isn't affecting the Japanese citizens as in China. Diaoyu Island Issue is one of the thorniest issues in the newspapers, on television and all over the Internet in recent days. Disputes Between China and Japan on the ownership of a boundary know as the Diaoyu Island in China and Senkaku Island in Japan. Both governments have made different statements pronouncing the Island to be their own.
Some Chinese citizens have been acting very aggressively in ways of smashing Japanese brand cars and boycotting Japanese products. Property loss and chaos has been caused. Car owners and shop keepers wept on their losses. But angry crowds swarm on. A number of anti-Japan campaigns and protests have been going on in some cities of China. Students are also showing their anger in their own ways. Some write

passionate articles on the Internet and others refuse to eat in Japanese restaurants. The whole nation’s nerve is hooked on this itching issue. Everyone talks about it and remarks upon the issue. Determination to protect the territory seems to be the main stream. Despite some of those aggressive means, most Chinese are still reasonable upon the Diaoyu Island Issue. “Diaoyu Island belong to China dating back from the history. And aggressive actions would only do us more harm than good.”A student from CUC commented.
Meanwhile the situation in Japan is much less tense according to our exchange students who are now in Japan. Apart from the scene that right wing party and some extremist who are clamoring that the dispute should be solved in abrupt means, ordinary Japanese citizens seem much at ease during the conflict. “They are mostly very much friendly and do not seem to be affected by the issue.”No signs put up in the street, no notices hanging on Chinese stores, no campaigns going on in the major cities.“The common citizens regard the issue to be political and have little to do with their everyday life. The thorny issue does not affect them while we are all excited over it. They just go on with their life, just like any other ordinary days.”A student from CUC who is now studying in Japan said during a phone interview. The oversea students get to continue their studies and remain not affected by the Diaoyu Island issue. They are grateful that their life now in Japan is safe and peaceful.
Beside the important reason that the Japanese citizens regard the issue to be political, they also stated the importance of their economy. “Our economy is going down, without the Chinese market that would be even worth. We don’t want the Senkaku Island issue to affect our import and export business with China.”A Japanese student said to our CUC oversea student when asked the question on whether they would boycott Chinese product. The Japanese citizens are focusing on improving their economy and everyday life rather that the on going thorny issue of Senkaku Island.

According to authoritative organization,the waste of food in the dinning table in China almost occupies the 1/10 of the total grain output , especially in some wedding celebration、official reception，some dishes are even threw away completely .
