Patience is the secret of success The story is about an unforgettable lesson of the writer from an old man while fishing, through which the writer realized patience was very important and that it was the secret of success I have a similar experience. Once I waited for the bus at the stop for 30 minutes, no bus came. I couldn’t wait any longer and decided to walk to school. But no sooner had I left than the bus arrived. I thought if I had waited for one more minute, I would have caught it. If I wanted to take the next bus, I would have to wait for another 30 minutes. Only then did I realize the importance of patience. Being impatient will waste all the efforts that we have made. Patience also plays an important part in our study and work. With it we can achieve greater success. Now, whenever I am to lose my patience, I’ll think of the experience of waiting for a bus.

The roads are dotted with trash, the railways are littered with decaying garbage and our cities are disgraced by plastic bags. There is no doubt that our cities are on the way towards becoming a huge landfill.

One of the biggest sources of out city pollution comes from the lunch boxes people throw away after finishing their meals. Each day a large number of people will buy their lunch from the cafeteria. It is always served in a soft white box and at the end of lunchtime we have created a “sea of white” empty boxes. These boxes are really a very big problem because it takes many many years to deteriorate. And there are hundreds and hundreds more each day. It is a great pity that many people have got used to throwing away their garbage wherever they like without knowing that their

misbehaviors are doing harm to our living environment as well as our own health. This is a problem concerning every one living in the world. Therefore, for the sake of your own health, do not litter. [写作内容]

One possible version:

In this passage, the author takes lunch boxes as an example to illustrate that many people have got into the bad habit of littering which leads to the deterioration of our living environment. Therefore the author calls on everybody to get rid of littering. Obviously, people seem to have got accustomed to finding garbage thrown in the streets, on squares and beside empty dustbins. In my opinion, the reasons for the bad habit of garbage littering lie in two aspects. On one hand, many people are not aware of their misbehaviors and some people even take it as only a “small” thing that others should not make a fuss over. On the other hand, due to the inadequate facilities of garbage collection, people throw away their refuse everywhere at will. In view of the severity of the issue, we should adopt immediate measures to deal with it. First of all, the government should play a leading role. It ought to bring in strong

anti-littering laws, backed by heavy penalties and effective enforcement. Also, officials should make good use of mass media to promote the public’s awareness of environmental protection, making sure that everyone will become a conscious

environment protector. Finally, it is essential for schools to attach importance to environmental education, so that every child will become environmentally friendly and get rid of the littering habit. In conclusion, people’s littering habit is turning our communities into a rubbish holder. It is high time that we took joint effort to solve the rubbish problem. Otherwise, we will live with rubbish in the future.

A dramatic ballad singer studied under a strict teacher who insisted that he rehearse day after day, month after month the same passage from the same song, without being permitted to go any further. Finally, overwhelmed by frustration and despair, the young man ran off to find another profession. One night, stopping at an inn, he came across a recitation contest. Having nothing to lose, he entered the competition and, of course, sang the one passage that he knew so well. When he had finished, the sponsor of the contest highly praised his performance. Despite the student’s embarrassed objections, the sponsor refused to believe that he had just heard a beginner perform. “Tell me,” the sponsor said, “who is your instructor? He must be a great master. ” The student later became known as the great performer Koshiji.

Koshiji practiced so much that it became part of him. To really master something, it has to become part of you. [写作内容]

One possible version:

The dramatic ballad student, who later became a great performer, could not stand the repeated boring practice, which was to lead to his very success in his career. (28 words)

As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. Consistent practice can result in perfect performance. Practice is of great importance in doing anything.

Take my personal experience in learning English for example. Three years ago, I had great trouble with listening comprehension. I couldn’t understand the teacher in class, let alone tapes This was obviously due to my lack of practice in Junior High. To improve my listening, I started to read English aloud every morning and listen to tapes and radio programs every evening. My efforts paid off and in the final examination I did an excellent job in listening.

I strongly believe that practice makes perfect. Whatever we do ,we should persist in it and keep on working until we are successful. (123 words)

Many years ago, when I was fresh out of school and working in Denver, I was driving to my parents' home in Missouri for Christmas. I stopped at a gas station about 50 miles from Oklahoma City, where I was planning to stop and visit a friend. While I was standing in line at the cash register(收款台), I said hello to an older couple who were also paying for gas.

I took off, but had gone only a few miles when black smoke poured from the back of my car. I stopped and wondered what I should do. A car pulled up behind me. It was the couple I had spoken to at the gas station. They said they would take me to my friend's. We chatted on the way into the city, and when I got out of the car, the husband gave me his business card. I wrote him and his wife a thank-you note for helping me. Soon afterward, I received a Christmas present from them. Their note that came with it said that helping me had made their holidays meaningful. Years later, I drove to a meeting in a nearby town in the morning. In late afternoon I returned to my car and found that I'd left the lights on all day, and the battery(电池)was dead. Then I noticed that the Friendly Ford dealership - a shop selling cars - was right next door. I walked over and found two salesmen in the showroom.

\quickly drove a pickup truck to my car and started it. They would accept no payment, so when I got home, I wrote them a note to say thanks. I received a letter back from one of the salesmen. No one had ever taken the time to write him and say thank you, and it meant a lot, he said.

One Possible Version:

In this passage, the writer mainly tells us two of his experiences of being helped by strangers. After he wrote them thank-you notes, he realized that saying “thank you” to others meant so much.

I have a similar experience. Once when I was about to go home after school, it was raining so heavily that I had to wait for the rain to stop. But after half an hour it was still raining. Seeing this, the guard at the gate offered to lend me his umbrella. I accepted at once. Thanks to his help, I got home on time without getting wet. The next morning, when I returned the umbrella to the guard, I said thank you to him and left him a note expressing my gratitude sincerely. To my surprise, he said no one had ever written him to say thank you, and it meant a lot to him.

So in my opinion, saying thank you to others is not only easy but also meaningful to the person who says it and the receiver!

Throughout history man has changed his physical environment in order to improve his way of life. With the tools of technology he has altered(改变)many physical features of the earth. He has transformed(完全改变) woodlands and prairies(大草原) into

farms and made lakes and reservoirs out of rivers for irrigation purposes or

hydroelectric power. Man has also changed the face of the earth by draining marshes (排干沼泽) and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.

However, man's changes to the physical environment have not always had beneficial results. Today, pollution of the air and water is an increasing danger to the health of the planet. Each day thousands of tons of gases come out of the exhausts of motor vehicles. Smoke from factories pollutes the air of industrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside. The pollution of water is equally harmful. The whole ecological balance of the sea is being changed and industrial wastes have already made many rivers lifeless. Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before. As we know, massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man's existence. Indifference to these problems will mean committing suicide. Therefore, effective measures should be taken and laws passed to conserve environment. Otherwise, man is certain to suffer from the serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living surroundings. [写作内容]

Although human has improved his living standard by altering the features of the earth, which has brought many benefits as well as harms to the environment. As a result, the environmental protection is more pressing than ever before.

The pollution to the earth are made up of at least seven items, such as paper, plastic, glass, clothes and food waste. Some of them can be reduced by reducing the amount of it or by giving them to some other people who need them. Some of them can be changed to be other things which can be used for another purpose.

Students in our school can also take some actions to reduce the pollution against the earth. We may try to save some paper by writing on both sides of the paper and write smaller words. We may try to use things to be reused instead of things to be
