A Reading reporting on Jane Eyre
There will be no other book has had a greater effect on me as Jane Eyre. I read the book for the first time when I was a 12 years old,at which time I don’t know the exact meaning of love very much. However,my tears still streamed down my cheek when I read that Jane choose to leave Mr Rochester, whom she love deeply by heart.Actually, I agree with every decision Jane has made. It’s Jane who tells me what a self-respect and self-strengthening girl should be,who tells me even if we are not rich or beautiful enough, we can become a millionaire in spirit.
Though born in an ordinary family and lost her parents at a very young age,Jane has a strong and pure heart,which makes her different from most other girls at that time.She will never flatter to those rich men,on the contrary,she lives on her own way.In the boarding school,she has learned many skills such as painting and playing the piano.Gradually she became a talent girl who has more charming quality than those superficial girls born wealthy or privileged.That’s why Mr Rochester falls deeply in love with her. One of the most classic line of Jane is what he says to Mr Rochester when he asks her to marry him suddenly,which is“I promise you, if God had gifted me with wealth and beauty, I would make it as hard for you to leave me now as it is for me to leave you. But he did not. But my spirit can address yours, as if both have passed through the grave and stood before heaven equal.”to which I can’t agree more. In front of the God, everyone is equal, no matter he is wealthy or not, no matter she is beautiful or not. At that time in England,not many girls are as brave as Jane who knows what she wants and what she should do so clearly.
At the end of the novel,having gone through thousands of sufferings,she choose to came back to the place where Mr Rochester live,though Mr Rochester has become a blind disabled man with only a leg left because of a fire disaster. I guess it’s a sensible decision for her since they’re completely equal then.Moreover,the one who choose to wait you for so many years is absolutely the real one.
