the parents expect the copy to be the same? It is possible, however, that the copy would develop quite differently. Is it fair to the new child to be placed in a family with such unnatural expectations?
Copying is also suggested as a means by which parents can have the child of their dreams.Couples might choose to have a copy of a film star, baseball player or scientist, depending on their interest. But because personality is only partly the result of genetic inheritance(遗传), conflicts would be sure to arise if the cloned child failed to develop the same interests as the original. What if the copy of Einstein shows no interest in science? Or the baseball player turns to acting? Success also depends upon fortune. What if the child does not live up to the hopes and dreams of the parents simply because of bad luck?
Every child should be wanted for itself, as an individual. In making a copy of oneself or some famous person, a parent is deliberately(深思熟虑地) specifying(详细说明) the way he or she wishes that child to develop. In recent years, particularly in the U.S., much importance has been placed on the right of individuals to reproduce in ways that they wish.So I suggest there is a greater need to consider the interests of the child and to reject these proposed uses of cloning. 63.What happens to parents in cloning a lost child? A.Parents expect too much from the copy. B.Parents may get a quite different copy. C.Parents are sure to have an identical copy. D.Parents lose the talents of the lost child. 64.What, in the author’s opinion, affects the success of parents’ dreams? A.The cloned child’s natural talent. B.The cloned child’s interest in Einstein. C.The cloned child’s personality. D.The efforts of the parents. 65.In the third paragraph, the author implies that ______. A.the cloned child is viewed as independent. B.the right of growing in his own way is taken away from the cloned child C.parents carefully protect the rights of the cloned child. D.parents are eager to wish the cloned child to be somebody. 66.In this passage, the author is mainly concerned about ______. A.the future of a cloned child. B.the possibility of cloning people. C.the importance of cloning a lost child. D.the problems of cloning life.

Among various programs, TV talk shows have covered every inch of space on daytime television. And anyone who watches them regularly knows that each one is different in style(风格).But no two shows are more opposite in content, while at the same time standing out above the rest, than the Jerry Springer and the Oprah Winfrey shows.
Jerry Springer could easily be considered the king of ―rubbish talk‖.The contents on his show are as surprising as can be.For example, the show takes the ever-common talk show titles of love, sex, cheating, and hate, to a different level.Clearly, the Jerry Springer show is about the dark side of society, yet people are willing to eat up the troubles of other people’s lives.
Like Jerry Springer, Oprah Winfrey takes TV talk show to its top.But Oprah goes in the opposite direction. The show is mainly about the improvement of society and different quality(质量) of life.Contents are from teaching your children lessons, managing your work week, to getting to know your neighbors.
Compared to Oprah, the Jerry Springer show looks like poisonous waste being poured into society.Jerry ends every show with a ―final word‖.He makes a small speech about the entire idea of the show.Hopefully, this is the part where most people will learn something very valuable.
Clean as it is, the Oprah show is not for everyone. The show’s main viewers are middleclass Americans. Most of these people have the time, money, and ability to deal with life’s tough problems.Jerry Springer, on the other hand, has more of a connection with the young adults of society. These are

第四部分 任务型阅读(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)
请认真阅读下面短文,并根据所读内容在图表的空格里填上最恰当的单词(每空一词)。
We live in a noisy world.Young and old alike are troubled by sounds over which we may have little or no control: car and house alarms, motorcycles, loudspeakers, even movie previews.
We attend rock concerts, weddings, parties and sports events at which the music is so loud you can hardly hear the person sitting next to you.At home, televisions, stereos and computer games are often turned up so loud that listeners cannot hear a doorbell or a telephone.
As if environmental noise were not enough, now we surround children with noisy toys and personal listening devices that can permanently damage their hearing.A series of studies conducted in 2002 indicated that even moderate(缓和的)background noise can interfere with how they learn language. In fact, children in classrooms on the noisy side of a school had lower reading scores than those whose classes were on the quiet side.
Noise-induced(噪音诱发的) hearing loss can come about in two ways: from a brief exposure to a very loud noise or from consistent(不断的) exposure to moderate-level noise. Thus, there is much concern about the lasting effects of MP3 players that are turned up loud enough to block out surrounding sound, like street noise. An MP3 player at maximum volume produces about 105 decibels(分贝) — 100 times as severe as 85 decibels, where hearing damage begins.
So, before buying noisemaking toys, parents would do well to listen to how loud they are.If the item comes with a volume control, monitor its use to make sure it is kept near the lowest level.Consider returning gifts that make loud noises, or disable the noise-making function.Children who play computer games and stereo equipment should be warned to keep the volume down. Most iPods have a control that allows parents to set a maximum volume.
Don’t take children to loud action movies. If you do go and the sound seems deafening, ask the management to turn down the volume or insist on your money back.
The League for the Hard of Hearing urges parents to encourage children to take part in quiet activities, like reading, doing puzzles, making things with construction toys, playing educational computer games, drawing and painting, and visiting libraries and museums.

Happiness means different things to different people. For example, some students believe that if they have a lot of money they will be happy, because they think they will be able to do anything they want to do and buy anything they want with the money. Some students think that they should be in good health so that they can enjoy their life better. Many students wish to have much wealth from their parents. In this way they don’t have to work hard, and they can own everything.
I don’t really agree with the points above.I don’t think money means happiness. We can’t buy many important things with money, such as health, happiness, and knowledge.I value knowledge, which makes me happy, for I can do much for mankind with knowledge. Although different people value happiness differently, my ―wealth‖ of happiness is in my study.
