Step 1 Warming up (About 5 minutes)
Let students practice greeting people, and reading the names of the students on Page 1. Ask some students to the front of the— class and write letters A—H on the blackboard. Step 2 Practice 3a and 3b (About 8 minutes)
1. Show the pictures in 3a on the screen (Guide the students pay attention to the time shown by the clock in each picture) for students to distinguish the usage of “Good morning!” “Good afternoon” and “Good evening!”
2. Do 3a Listening. Then number the pictures 3. Practice the conversations in 3a with, your partners. Step 3 3c Listening practice (About 6 minutes) Listen to the conversations, then practice the dialogue:

Ss work with partners or in groups. Step 4 Practice 3d (About 5 minutes)
Choose an English name for yourself. Then greet each other.
(The students can pick up their favorite English names from the Name List at the end of the book. If they don’t know how to read, teacher can give some help.)
Step 5 4a (About 3 minutes)
Write the names of the children on page SI. Then write the names in alphabetical order. Read them correctly, and complete the name list.
Step 6 4b and 4c:Listening practice (About 10 minutes)
1. Get the students to listen to the tape, then repeat after the tape one by one. Pay attention to the pronunciation of the letters “A” and “E”.
2. List out the letter A/ei/, /?/on the blackboard and encourage the students to say out what other words also make the same pronunciation. Give them some tips. Present the other letters the same as the letter A. Then E/i:/, /e/.
Step 7 Listen and sing the song (About 4 minutes)
There is a song about the target language in this unit on page S4, 4d. Let students sing the song.
Step 8 Summary (About 2 minutes)
Let the students show what they have learnt in this class. Step 9 Home work (About 2 minutes) 1. Copy the letters and the conversation.
