play a significant role in the economic viability of cellulosic ethanol. Biomass conversion process involves five major steps, choice of suitable biomass, effective pretreatment, production of saccharolytic enzymes-cellulases and hemicellulases, fermentation of hexoses and pentoses and downstream processing. Within the context of production of fuels from biomass, pretreatment has come to denote processes by which cellulosic biomass is made amenable to the action of hydrolytic enzymes. The limited effectiveness of current enzymatic process on lignocellulose is thought to be due to the relative difficulties in pretreating the feedstocks. The present review is a comprehensive state of the art describing the advancement in recent pretreaments, metabolic engineering approaches with special emphasis on the latest developments in consolidated biomass processing, current global scenario of bioethanol pilot plants and biorefinery concept for the production of biofuels and bioproducts.

摘要:Wind Diesel Hybrid Systems (WDHS) are isolated power systems which combine Diesel Generators (DG) with Wind Turbine Generators (WTG). Depending on the generators which are supplying, high penetration (HP) WDHS have three operation modes: Diesel Only (DO), Wind Diesel (WD) and Wind Only (WO). The HP-WDHS presented in this article consists of a Diesel Engine (DE), a Synchronous Machine (SM), a Wind Turbine Generator, the consumer load, a Ni-Cd Battery based Energy Storage System (BESS) and a Dump Load. The DE can be engaged (DO and WD modes) or disengaged (WO mode) from the SM by means of a clutch. All the models of the previously mentioned components are presented and the performance of the WDHS has been tested through dynamic simulation. Simulation results with graphs for the frequency and voltage of the isolated power system, active powers generated/absorbed by the different elements and the battery voltage/current/state of charge are presented for a load change in WO mode and for the transition from WO to WD mode in order to substitute a supplying BESS for the DE as the active power source.

摘要:A detailed overview towards the advancement of graphene based biosensors has been reviewed. The large surface area and excellent electrical conductivity of graphene allow it to act as an ―electron wire‖ between the redox centers of an enzyme or protein and an electrode's surface. Rapid electron transfer facilitates accurate and selective detection of biomolecules. This review discusses the application of graphene for the detection of glucose, Cyt-c, NADH, Hb, cholesterol, AA, UA, DA, and H2O2. GO and RGO have been used for the fabrication of heavy metal ion sensors, gas sensors, and DNA sensors. Graphene based FETs have also been discussed in details. In all these cases, the biosensors performed well with low working potentials, high sensitivities, low detection limits, and long-term stabilities.

The present study aimed to investigate how cognitive resources are utilized to implement this behavioral change.

Method:60 participants were randomly divided into four groups and completed a simulated training drive in Week 1 followed by a 10 km simulated test drive in Week 2. As part of the test drive, two groups were asked to complete a secondary task (mental arithmetic task) in addition to the test drive. Results:The results indicated that implementing a speed management strategy elicited by Episodic training was successful in isolation, but came at a cognitive trade-off when performed in conjunction with a secondary task.

Conclusion:From an applied perspective, these results suggest driver training programmes should compartmentalize driver training in order to reduce the cognitive load experienced by trainee drivers, and hence facilitate in driver skill acquisition.

摘要:With depleting fossil fuel reservoirs and the corresponding emissions of air pollutants, we urgently need to look for alternative, renewable and sustainable energy options to counteract our strong dependence on fossil fuels for energy supplies. Solar thermal, geothermal, biomass combustion heat energy and waste heat recovery may be applied to drive combined heat and power (CHP) systems with organic Rankine cycle (ORC). Working fluid is a critical factor to affect the efficiency of the ORC, therefore optimal selection of the working fluid for an ORC-based system needs to be studied.

This paper presents the comparison and optimization of 8 mostly-applied working fluids nowadays and gives a preferable ranking by means of spinal point method. The organic working fluids (organic refrigerants) for the medium-to-low temperature ORC have thermodynamic, environmental and economic criteria, such as preferable boiling temperature, high enthalpy drop (i.e., high thermal efficiency), favourable heat transfer characteristics, highly thermal and chemical stability, non-flammability, low toxicity, no ozone depletion and low cost. According to these criteria and spinal point method, the 8 mostly-applied organic working fluids are characterized and listed in order of preferable selection: HFE7000, HFE7100, PF5050, R123, n-pentane, R245fa, R134a and isobutene. An adequate organic fluid should be selected considering these selection criteria and the specific heat source.

摘要:In this work performances of adaptive backstepping controller (BSC) and globally linearizing controller (GLC) are compared for pH control. First, based on the system full order model a GLC has been designed and it has been shown that this controller is identical to BSC proposed in the literature. Next in order to avoid state estimator design, BSC and GLC are designed based on pH reduced order model and their identities have been established. Through computer simulations, it has been shown that the performance of non-adaptive GLC designed based on reduced order model is better than that of adaptive BSC designed based on pH full order model which requires state measurement for implementation. Finally, the effectiveness of GLC designed based on the reduced order model in load rejection and set-point tracking has been demonstrated through simulation and experimental studies.

摘要:Recognition of power quality events by analyzing the voltage and current waveform disturbances is a very important task for the power system monitoring. This paper presents a novel approach for the recognition of power quality disturbances using multiwavelet transform and neural networks. The proposed method employs the multiwavelet transform using multiresolution signal decomposition techniques working together with multiple neural networks using a learning vector quantization network as a powerful classifier. Various transient events are tested, such as voltage sag, swell, interruption, notching, impulsive transient, and harmonic distortion show that the classifier can detect and classify different power quality signal types efficiency.

摘要:This paper develops a fuzzy multi-period production planning and sourcing problem with credibility objective, in which a manufacturer has a number of plants or subcontractors. According to the credibility service levels set by customers in advance, the manufacturer has to satisfy different product demands. In the proposed production problem, production cost, inventory cost and product demands are uncertain and characterized by fuzzy variables. The problem is to determine when and how many products are manufactured so as to maximize the credibility of the fuzzy costs not exceeding a given allowable invested capital, and this credibility can be regarded as the investment risk criteria in fuzzy decision systems. In the case when the fuzzy parameters are mutually independent gamma distributions, we can turn the service level constraints into their equivalent deterministic forms. However, in this situation the exact analytical expression for the credibility objective is unavailable, thus conventional optimization algorithms cannot be used to solve our production planning problems. To overcome this obstacle, we adopt an approximation scheme to compute the credibility objective, and deal with the convergence about the computational method. Furthermore, we develop two heuristic solution methods. The first is a combination of the approximation method and a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, and the second is a hybrid algorithm by integrating the approximation method, a neural network

(NN), and the PSO algorithm. Finally, we consider one 6-product source, 6-period production planning problem, and compare the effectiveness of two algorithms via numerical experiments.

摘要:he rapidly growing world energy use has already raised concerns over supply difficulties, exhaustion of energy resources and heavy environmental impacts (ozone layer depletion, global warming, climate change, etc.). The global contribution from buildings towards energy consumption, both residential and commercial, has steadily increased reaching figures between 20% and 40% in developed countries, and has exceeded the other major sectors: industrial and transportation. Growth in population, increasing demand for building services and comfort levels, together with the rise in time spent inside buildings, assure the upward trend in energy demand will continue in the future. For this reason, energy efficiency in buildings is today a prime objective for energy policy at regional, national and international levels. Among building services, the growth in HVAC systems energy use is particularly significant (50% of building consumption and 20% of total consumption in the USA). This paper analyses available information concerning energy consumption in buildings, and particularly related to HVAC systems. Many questions arise: Is the necessary information available? Which are the main building types? What end uses should be considered in the breakdown? Comparisons between different countries are presented specially for commercial buildings. The case of offices is analysed in deeper detail.

摘要:The evolution of cloud computing over the past few years is potentially one of the major advances in the history of computing. However, if cloud computing is to achieve its potential, there needs to be a clear understanding of the various issues involved, both from the perspectives of the providers and the consumers of the technology. While a lot of research is currently taking place in the technology itself, there is an equally urgent need for understanding the business-related issues surrounding cloud computing. In this article, we identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the cloud computing industry. We then identify the various issues that will affect the different stakeholders of cloud computing. We also issue a set of recommendations for the practitioners who will provide and manage this technology. For IS researchers, we outline the different areas of research that need attention so that we are in a position to advice the industry in the years to come. Finally, we outline some of the key issues facing governmental agencies who, due to the unique nature of the technology, will have to become intimately involved in the regulation of cloud computing.

摘要:The unprecedented popularity of the social networking site Facebook raises a number of important questions regarding the impact it has on sociality. However, as Facebook is a very recent social phenomenon, there is a distinct lack of psychological theory relating to its use. While research has begun to identify the types of people who use Facebook, this line of investigation has been limited to student populations. The current study aimed to investigate how personality influences usage or non-usage of Facebook. The sample consisted of 1324 self-selected Australian Internet users (1158 Facebook users and 166 Facebook nonusers), between the ages of 18 and 44. Participants were required to complete an online questionnaire package comprising the Big Five Inventory (BFI), the Narcissistic Personality Inventory – 29-item version (NPI-29), the Revised Cheek and Buss Shyness Scale (RCBS), and the Social and Emotional Loneliness Scale for Adults – Short version (SELSA-S). Facebook users also completed a Facebook usage questionnaire. The results showed that Facebook users tend to be more extraverted and narcissistic, but less conscientious and socially lonely, than nonusers. Furthermore, frequency of Facebook use and preferences for specific features were also shown to vary as a result of certain characteristics, such as neuroticism, loneliness, shyness and narcissism. It is hoped that research in this area continues, and leads to the development of theory regarding the implications and gratifications of Facebook use.
