Have you ever thought of why dogs are human’s best friend? What’s the bond(紧密关系)between Human and a dog? A new study by Japanese scientist Miho Nagasawa seem to have found the answer, and it has to do with something named the cuddle(拥抱)chemical.
The cuddle chemical has another, more scientific name:
oxytocin(催产素). Oxytocin is something in the blood that encourages bonding. Levels of oxytocin increase, for example, when a mother feeds her newborn baby. According to Nagasawa’s study, levels of oxytocin can also go up when we look deeply into the eyes of a dog.
Humans and dogs have been working together for nearly 30,000 years. In order to better understand how the cuddle chemical worked between dogs and humans, Nagasawa and his team did an experiment. They tested levels of oxytocin in dogs and humans, and then put them in a room to interact(交流)with each other. While in the room, the humans pet the dogs, spoke to the dogs, and looked into the dogs' eyes. Then the scientists tested their levels of oxytocin again.
The researchers found that levels of oxytocin were higher in both humans and dogs after they interacted. However, levels were the highest in the humans and dogs that simply looked into each other’s eyes, without much petting or talking. The longer the humans looked into the eyes of the dogs, the more cuddle chemical let out. Nagasawa did the same experiment with humans and wolves(狼),but it did not give the same results. 52. The underlined word “it”in Paragraph 1 refer to.
A. something B. the answerC. a new study D. the cuddle chemical 53. Nagasawa did the experiment of humans and dogs to know. A. how oxytocin worked B. how oxytocin was divided C. how they helped each other
D. how they interacted with each other
54. Oxytocin levels reached the highest in the humans and dogs. A. when they looked into each other’s eyes B. when they talked with each other C. if the dogs cuddled the humans D. if the humans pet the dogs
55. What can we infer(推断)from the last sentence of the text?
A. More experiments are expected to help wolves produce oxytocin. B. The cuddle chemical in human blood protects us against wolves. C. It makes sense that humans and wolves are naturally best friends.
D. It’s generally impossible to have the bond between humans and wolves. 【

The cuddle chemical has another, more
scientific name: oxytocin(拥抱化合物有另外一个更科学的名字——催产素)及第三段中In order to better understand how the cuddle chemical worked between dogs and humans, Nagasawa and his team did an experiment.(为了更好地了解狗与人之间的催产素如何起作用,长泽和他的团队做了一个实验)可知,做实验是为了了解狗与人之间的催产素如何起作用。故选A。 54.
You probably talk to friends more than you talk to your parents. That's natural. Still, most of us want a parent's help, advice, and support at times. But talking to the parents may be difficult or terrible — especially when it comes to certain subjects. Here are some suggestions to make it easier.
Talk about everyday stuff — and do it every day.The more you do something, the easier it gets. Talking to parents about everyday stuff builds a bond that can help you discuss something more serious with them later.
Find something to chat(聊天)about each day. Talk about how your team did at the sports meet. Share something one of your teachers said. Even small talk about what’s for dinner can help you relationship comfortable.
It's never too late to start. If your relationship with your parents makes you feel nervous. Try getting into conversations slowly. Mention the cute thing the dog did. Talk about how well your little sister is doing in math. Chatting with parents every day not only keeps the present relationship strong, it also can help a might-be-worse relationship get better.
When parents feel connected to your daily life, they can be there for you if something really important.

由上句When parents feel connected to your daily life(当父母融入到你的日常生活)可知,下句they can be there for you if something really important应意为“如果真有重要的事情出现(发生),他们会陪在你身边“。 5. We had a picnic together last month.
(print)
The book was printed 10/ten years ago.
(no good for)
答案:(Eating) Too much salt is no good for our health.
解析:no good for意为“对…… (can't wait)
答案:The children can’t wait to play football after school.

3. unhappy 由后句because he is not good at sports(因为他不擅长运动)可知,此句应意为“然而,他总是不高兴”。 4. men’s men’s marathon意为“男子马拉松”。
6. training keep on doing sth.
7. came 由下句There were 109 runners and they were all bigger than Danny.
8. them keep up with 意为“跟上”,后面的宾语是人称代词时,需用宾格形式,故填them。 9.
12. cheering hear sb. do sth.
