Playing sports is one of the favourite activities of most of us. Apart from being a fun activity, sports offer several health benefits.

Sports serve as an excellent physical exercise. Those who play sports have a more healthy body than those who do not. Taking part in team and individual sports is a great way to get in shape and help prevent serious illnesses. According to a report from the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on Sport for Development and Peace, sports provide an opportunity for young people to develop their bones; heart and lung function, and improve motor skills and coordination.

Sports do not just affect your physical health, but have a positive effect on your mental health as well. Sports can increase self-confidence and self-awareness, Reduce depression and anxiety. A 2006 study showed higher levels of sport participation and physical activity were linked to lower levels of depression, and that exercise can encourage better self-perception. When our mood was bad, we can do some sports, like running, playing basketball, that can make we feel better.
