2.1 All out-of-engine pipes of M/E L.O. system to be taken off for acid pickling and cleaning. The installation completeness of pipes of M/E L.O. system to be accepted by QC and Owner.
2.2 The equipments, line and parts on line must be cleaned inner before installation, the gasket installation to be correct and pay more attention to the following: A. two L.O. pumps
B. outlet valves of the two L.O. pumps
C. heat coils and supports in M/E L.O. SUMB TANK
D. venting pipe and return pipes in M/E L.O. SUMB TANK
2.3 The cleaning of the M/E inner, the general L.O. pipe on M/E and the M/E L.O. SUMB TANK to be accepted by Q.C and OW. Before grinding the M/E L.O. SUMB TANK, every pipe hole inside to be sealed with stoppers and take them off before inspection (Q.C check)
2.4 To reduce the flushing period, purifiers to be used during flushing. A temporary filter to be fitted on the line from
purifiers to M/E L.O. SUMB TANK and check the filter in interval . 2.5 Spraying oil to M/E inner 、 parts inside and chain box etc. should be carried out before external flushing or at the beginning of external flushing. 【note : the bearings(main bearing、crosshead、thrust bearing etc. ) to be covered with
canvas. if necessary ,spraying oil to M/E inner to be done again to removing the dirt from flushing before the inspection of external flushing.】To avoid the dirt going into the M/E L.O. SUMB TANK, a filter with mesh 80u to be fitted on the outlet of M/E before spraying oil and accepted by Q.C. (keep the temperature 60-65°c)
2.6 Disconnected the L.O. pipe connected to M/E and covered with blank flange. At position A as shown in attached fig.1 a filter with mesh 25 ? to be fitted, a hose from A to be led to the bottom of the M/E through the temporary side cover.
2.7 Flushing filter with mesh 80 ? supplied by shipyard to be fitted in the main by-pass filter (at position B shown in
attached fig.1). At the beginning of flushing the M/E L.O. Cooler and M/E L.O. Automatic filter don’t join in flushing, when the oil is relatively clean, let the oil go through them.
2.8 Magnets to be installed in the filters at Pos. A, B to absorb iron particles.
6
2.9 Take out of the strainer of L.O. Automatic filter.
2.10 Close the valves on the inlet and outlet of L.O. Cooler and adjust the temperature regulating valve to by-pass position to prevent the dirt hiding in some place (Advice is blanking off the inlet of M/E L.O. Cooler and the side of the temperature
regulating valve connected to the outlet of the M/E L.O. Cooler. If not, drain out the oil in these pipes before opening the
valves on inlet and outlet of M/E L.O. Cooler). Install temporary thermometers on the system.
2.11 Filling 5T L.O. into M/E L.O. SUMB TANK. The level of L.O. in M/E L.O. SUMB TANK to be preferably 300~350mm after starting pumps.
2.12 Check the line again according to the attached fig.1、3.
2.13 Records to be taken both before and during flushing, including spraying and pipe towards.
3. External flushing
3.1 At the beginning of flushing, the two pumps to be used
alternately and pay more attentions to the pressure at inlet and outlet of pump, the voltage and current of motor. If any problems take place, please deal with in time.
3.2 During flushing, take out of the strainers at A、B. After
running the two L.O. pumps at the same time for 24H, put back the strainers and clean the bottom of M/E and take out of the
strainer at outlet of M/E to continue flushing. L.O. purifiers to be in service during flushing to transfer the system L.O. to the M/E L.O. SUMB TANK and to circulating it to clean flushing oil. 3.3 A temporary filter to be fitted to the general pipe of the outlet of L.O. pump to prevent the dirt from M/E L.O. SUMB TANK into line. Check and clean the filter when the main L.O. Pump is running about 10 minutes first time. When the filter became more and more clean, increase the space-time. When the oil is relatively clean, dismantle the temporary filters.
3.4 The flushing oil to be heated to 60oC ~65oC. Temperature at main L.O. cooler preferably to 70oC.
3.5 The pipes to be vibrated continuously with vibrator during flushing. Manual hammering to be performed at flanges and pipe bends and welding parts at regular intervals.
7
3.6 Inlet and outlet valves for L.O. by-pass filter and Automatic filter to be so adjusted that L.O. flush through the filters alternately.
3.7 When QC and technologist agree that the oil is relatively clean, the filter inserts in Pos. A and B to be changed with mesh 25u. Two L.O. pumps to be run simultaneously to continue flushing and after 24 h a sample to be taken for particle counting as a reference for the future flushing, and record for QC.
3.8 When the oil is relatively clean, 1) let the oil go through L.O. Cooler, 2) put back the filter insert of Automatic filter and the Automatic filter is to be run for a 24 hour period, with a cleaning cycle of 20 min.
3.9 During flushing check 、clean and change the filters at position A、B at regular intervals.
4. Inspection of external flushing
4.1 Check bags 10? to be fitted in filters at Pos. A, A new filter
with mesh 25? to be fitted in filter at Pos. B.
4.2 One or two pumps are run, depending on the backpressure from the
check bags, for 2 hours.
4.3 A sample is drawn from the top cover of the Check bag filter
housing.
4.4 If no hard particles in the check bags and particle counting of
the of the oil sample is within limits , then the flushing of internal piping can be prepared.
4.5 Owner to be submit sample record (the particle counting record
to be attached)and flushing record.
5 Internal flushing
5.1 As shown in Fig. 2 and Fig.3, crosshead bearing inlet and main
bearing L.O. inlet to be fitted blank flanges with draining pipes respectively. The flange at in-engine oil inlet of crosshead flexible pipe to be loosen about 5mm to remove entrapped oil.(this item must be finished before external flushing.)
5.2 Install filter 25u at Pos.B to run two L.O. pumps to flushing, 5.3 When technologist agrees that the oil is relatively clean,
dismantle blank flange of chain box spray pipe. The plastic
8
hoses from nozzle to be lead to the bottom of the M/E. (Some nozzles couldn’t be connected to plastic hoses).
5.4 Circulating for 6 hours to the general L.O. pipe on M/E. Record
and inspected by QC.
5.5 All filter elements to be drawn. Two L.O. pumps to be run
simultaneously for 24h. Sample to be drawn for inspection and then submit to Owner.
6 Inspection of internal flushing
6.1 Housings of check bags of 10 ? to be fitted respectively at the
ends of L.O. main of main bearing and crosshead L.O. main. Sample to be drawn for inspection while owner present. 6.1 Continue in accord with 4.2、4.4、4.5.
7 After flushing completion
7.1 Dismantle the blind flanges and hoses and check bags, connect
back the pipes in M/E. and put back the original filter of L.O. by-pass filter at pos. c.
7.2 The oil in the M/E L.O. SUMB TANK to be transferred to the L.O.
settling tank through the L.O. purifier and then be circulated in L.O. settling tank
7.3 The M/E L.O. SUMB TANK to be cleaned and inspected for QC and
Owner.
7.4 If necessary, clean the end of general pipe by dismantling the
blind flange
8 Inspection after flushing completion
8.1 The oil in the L.O. setting tank to be transferred to the M/E
L.O. SUMB TANK through the L.O. purifier and then be circulated in M/E L.O. SUMB TANK
8.2 Restore all piping to normal running condition. Inspected by QC
and OW before running M/E.
