About the Author

Robert Doolan is a marketing specialist with the Marketing Services unit of the Department of Primary Industries, Queensland. He has a background in international business, marketing analysis and export management.

Mr Doolan has an extensive knowledge of both the Chinese and Japanese agribusiness markets. He was co-author of the RIRDC-funded reports Food Retailing in Japan (1995) and Retailing in East Asia and Australia: Opportunities for Agribusiness (1995). He was also senior author of the recently published Food Service Markets in Japan and the United States (1997) and co-author of Food Service Markets in Thailand and Taiwan (1996) published by the Department of Primary Industries, Queensland.

Mr Doolan is proficient in spoken Chinese having studied and worked in Shanghai, China, for twelve months in 1994.
