Abstract
TheTransmissionControlProtocol(TCP)representsthemostdeployedtransportprotocolusedintheInternetsofar.Thispopularitymotivatesitspresenceinwirelessnetworks,includingadhocnetworks.Thesenetworksareverypromisingsincetheymakeitpossiblecommunicationamongendsystemsdirectlywithoutanyinfrastructure.However,TCPfacesvariousproblemswhenrequiredtoworkinsuchenvironments.Becauseofthat,itisveryimportanttounderstandthebehaviourofthisprotocolinwirelessnetworks.ThisprojectevaluatesTCPperformanceinadhocnetworksbymeansofsimulation.WecomparetwoTCP avours,namelyNewrenoandSACK,underavarietyofconditions.Speci cally,weassessedthroughput,retransmissions,andenergyconsumptionfeaturesofTCP.WealsoevaluatedthedelayedacknowledgmentoptionforTCP.Theresultsprovidedsomeinsightintothisquitewidesubject.
