小美:看字面的意思,应该是救命稻草的意思.
阿坤:不,它表示极限的条件.相传有一个富商,为人苛刻,每次去集市的时候,都要买大量便宜的货品,为了节省成本,他只带一匹骆驼帮他载货,有一次东西买的太多了,骆驼几乎快被累死,以至于最后一根稻草放上去,骆驼倒在地上死掉了.所以the last straw 表示最后极限的条件,比如在<真实的谎言>中,一辆车卡在桥的断裂出,摇摇晃晃,几乎要掉下去,突然,一只鸟落了下来,车子马上掉了下去,这只鸟就叫做the last straw 最后极限的条件. 小美:不看不知道,原来一个小小的麦当劳里有这么多的英文可学.
