[Abstract] This paper argues that the translation techniques which are generalized on the basis of comparisonof linguistic forms have some negative effects on translation learners, and it proposes that generalizing tech-niques on the basis of the cognitive analysis of meaning be more adaptable to the translation learners' needs.
