第一课时

?教学内容:Section A 1a-2c ?教学目标:

a. 能够掌握基本单词和词汇 invent, be used for, scoop, adjustable, heel, battery, operate, slipper, light bulb.

b. 能够运用基本句型进行提问。 When was it/were they invented?

Who was it/were they invented by? What is it/are they used for?

↘呈现/操练(Presentation/Practice)

? Present two pictures of Thomas Edison and a light bulb. T: Look at the picture on the Screen. What's that in English? Ss: ... T: It's a light bulb. (Students read “light bulb” after the teacher repeatedly.)

T: Who invented the light bulb?

Thomas Edison invented the light bulb in 1879. ? Play a short game:

a. Teacher ask four Ss come to the front and give each of them

a card with Thomas Edison, Invented, The light bulb, In 1879 on it. Then ask them to stand in order like the sentence.

Thomas Edison invented the light bulb in 1789.

b. Exchange the order of Thomas Edison and the light bulb and

ask Ss:

Is it right now? Can we say like this?

c. Ask the fifth and sixth Ss with card of Was and By to cut

in line and organize the right sentence.

?Teacher write the three sentences on the Bb and explain the Passive Voice and the Active Voice. Ss read them after the teacher repeatedly.

? Present the inventions of the train and the plane.

T: Talk with your partner about the inventions with the words given by using the Passive Voice and the Active Voice. ?Ask a few pairs to say the dialogues like below: A: Who invented the train/ plane? B: ?

A: When was it invented? B: ?

↘Work on 1a

?T: We know the light bulb was invented after the train.

But it was invented before the plane.

Now let’s look at more inventions: the personal computer, .

the car, the calculator, the telephone and the TV. In what order do you think they were invented.

? Ss work in pairs and talk about their ideas like this:

A: I think the telephone was invented before the car.

B: I think the telephone was invented after the car.

↘Work on 1b and 1c

?Ss listen to the tape twice and match the inventions with the

dates. 爱迪生是众所周知的发明家。学生了解的比较多。

通过游戏来教语法既能活跃语法死气沉沉的课堂,又能让学生乐于接受,牢记于心。

用火车和飞机的发明来呈现学生知道的人比较多,因为社会书上有着方面的知识。

A: When was the telephone invented? B: I think it was invented in 1876. ?The whole class check the answer together.

?Present a telephone . Make a dialogue with a student like this:

T: When was the telephone invented? S1: It was invented in 1876. T: What is it used for?

T and S1: It is used for talking with people. ?Teacher explain the key sentences:

What is it used for? It’s used for talking with people. ?Ss do pair work and talk about other inventions like the model.

?Ss act out their dialogues in front of the whole class.

↘Work on 2a and 2b

?Present the three inventions shoes with adjustable heels, battery- operated slippers and heated ice cream scoop in the dialogue.

?Listen and number the inventions in the order.

?Listen again and match the items in columns A, B, and C. ?Check the answers like this:“The shoes with adjustable heels were invented by Jayce Coziar and Jamie Ellsworth. They are used for changing the style of the shoes.”

↘Pole play

Ss talk about the inventions in the dialogue. They can use their own names to substitute the difficult names. ① What is it/are they? It is/They are ... ② Who was it/were they invented by?

↘Homework

?Listen to the two conversations in 1b and 2a and imitate. ?Surf the internet and find more inventions. Introduce them to

对话中复杂、难读的人名,给学生造成很大的障碍。教师可以有意识地替换成班级学生的名字,学生朗读更容易,学习气氛更活跃。
