I received an email from my cousin Jack in Canada. He said he was enthusiastic about Chinese, and asked me to find him some books intended for Chinese beginners. I was very pleased to do such a favor. So I went from one bookstore to another, hoping to find something suitable for him. Finally I selected a set of Chinese textbooks among a variety of similar ones. Then I went to a post office to have them delivered by air without delay. Several days later, I received Jack’s email, saying that he really appreciated the books I had sent. I’m very glad that Jack is beginning to learn Chinese just like many other foreigners abroad, although I know it may be an enjoyable challenge for him. 125 2012

Last winter, we carried out an activity themed “Helping the Children in the Hope Primary School in Tibet”. ________________________________________________________________
Last winter, we carried out an activity themed “Helping the Children in the Hope Primary School in Tibet”. In the class meeting, we watched CCTV news and learned about what the life of the children there was like and all of us were shocked. So we decided to do our bit. We put up some posters on the school notice board and gave out the handouts to the schoolmates. The next day, many students took part in the donation on the playground. Some donated their pocket money and some brought their new clothes and quilts. After that, we went to the post office to mail the donations to Tibet. We are more than glad to have such kind of activities, for we not only set up the bridge of friendship with the children in Tibet but also show our love to the children there. 2011

Community Service
Fist we went to visit an old lady who lived all alone. While we were in her home, one of us chatted with her and the rest helped do a thorough cleaning. We swept the floor and dusted the table. When the work was done, the house looked really neat and tidy then we went to the sports center, where different sports facilities needed polishing. We set out to work at once. In no time everything was dust-free. To make the environment clean, we also picked up the litter on the grass and along the paths. As the Spring Festival was around the corner, we put up New Year decorations on the billboard and a poster with the characters Happy Chinese New Year on it.
Having done all these, we saw a more pleasant community. Tired as we were, we felt happy as all of our work paid off. 朝阳 2013

Last week, our class was on duty in the cafeteria for student self-management. On the first day, I was shocked to see so much leftover food thrown away by students. What a waste! Being concerned about it, my classmates and I had a heated discussion on how to solve the problem. Lots of good ideas came up, such as holding class meetings, putting up wall newspapers and charging a fine for wasting food. Finally, we all agreed that wall newspaper would be the best choice.
The next day, we put our idea into reality. Towards lunch time, we put up a wall newspaper outside the school cafeteria, calling on students not to waste food. Many students gathered around to read and expressed their support. To my great delight, there were changes soon. In the cafeteria, I found the trays returned after lunch all empty without any leftover. Food was saved and the dining hall was cleaner. Seeing this, I felt relieved and proud of what we had done. 石景山 2013
