When an elementary school was planning to repaint the walls of its hospital, I suggested pale orange, or peach color. For sick children waiting in beds for their parents to pick them up, unclear white walls are likely to increase their uneasiness. While the peach color may remind them of their mothers’ skin and reduce their uneasiness. Today, an increasing number of school children are absent themselves from school. Even when these children go to school, they prefer staying in school hospitals rather than in classrooms. I believe that changing the color of hospital walls can help these children brighten their moods.
Orange can be recognized even in the dark, or from a distance. Therefore, it is used for lifesaving equipment. Also, bright orange is often used for packages of health drinks.
