Experts say coffee prices are rising mainly because people are willing to pay more. Coffee sellers like Mark Warmuth say tastes are changing and more people want a good cup of coffee.

Mark Warmuth owns the M. E. Swing Coffee Company in Alexandria, Virginia, near Washington. He says big coffee sellers like Starbucks help his business by building a base of customers who want something better.

Greater demand for high-quality coffee has helped drive coffee prices higher. That includes greater demand among Brazilians. Brazil is the world's largest exporter of coffee.

People in India are also drinking more coffee. Starbucks just announced plans to enter that market in a deal with India's Tata Coffee Company.

A) Crop growers' high expectation. B) Bad weather and growing demand. C) Inflation and natural disasters. D) People's waste of food.

D) There is no change in coffee prices in Brazil.

The prospect of university fees rising to £9,000 a year is prompting parents to save more for their children's education, research suggests.

The rise—to apply from September 2012—is the main (26)factor behind a rise in savings in recent months, said ING Direct (网上银行名), which (27)questioned 1,300 adults, including 300 who do not save at all.

It said 23% of parents were saving more or setting up university (28)accounts . And 1 in 10 parents and children were having second (29)thoughts about going to university, it added.

Ministers have decided that the (30)standard level for tuition (学费) fees will be £6,000, up from the (31)current level of £3,290. But universities will be able to charge up to £9,000 if they (32)fulfill/fulfil certain

conditions.

Student loans will continue to be (33)available to cover both the fees and day-to-day maintenance. But many parents try to reduce the debt (34)burden by covering some of the cost.

The evidence from ING Direct implies that more parents are becoming alarmed at the prospect of a rise in fees. But few will be able to protect their children from taking on some student (35)loans .

Full details about the loans on offer in 2012 have not yet been finalized, but it appears that some students could end up with £40,000 of debt.

Teen smokers are influenced to start smoking if their favorite movie stars are smokers, suggests research in a Dartmouth College study published in this week's Tobacco Control, a BMJ journal. Teenagers aged 10 to 19 were (36)surveyed about their smoking habits and their attitudes toward smoking. These were scored on a five-point (37)scale . Altogether, 632 students from five rural New England schools (38)participated .

Teens whose favorite stars smoked in films were more likely to score (39)higher than teens who chose stars who did not smoke. And the more a star portrayed (描绘) smoking, the more (40)favorably the adolescent (青少年) viewed smoking. Teens whose favorite stars smoked in two films were 1.5 times more likely to score on the (41)upper end of the scale,

while those whose favorite stars smoked in three or more films were three times as likely to do so.

Among teens who had never smoked, those who chose stars who smoked in three or more films were 16 times as likely to express positive opinions about smoking than those who chose \ (42)non-smoking \

Stars who smoke may therefore (43)encourage teens to try out smoking, suggest the authors, who conclude: \believe this (44)evidence strongly suggests that media descriptions of tobacco use by popular movie stars (45)contribute to adolescent smoking.\

A) participated B) attribute C) favorably D) evidence E) higher F) scale G) level H) upper I) contribute J) encourage K) likely L) non-smoking M) lower N) surveyed O) anticipated

N) surveyed

Teen smokers are influenced to start smoking if their favorite movie stars are smokers(研究表明青少年会受到他们所喜爱影星的影响而抽烟),第二句话要具体介绍这项研究的主要对象和目的。
