Abstract

ThroughacomparisonofsedimentationratesbetweentheGuanyinqiaoMemberandmoderndeep-seade-positsandanalysesofpaleoecology,paleobiogeography,sea-levelchangesandcomprehensivegeologicalcharac-teristicsoftheGuanyinqiaoMember,theauthorsholdthattheGuanyinqiaoMemberwasformedinadeep-seaenvironmentandshouldbelongtothedeep-seacontourites.Inaddition,theauthorssuggestthattheextensivevolcaniceventsfrequentlyoccurredattheturnofOrdovician-Silurianmaybethemainanddirectcauseforor-ganismextinctionandthatthecouplingofvolcanicevents,iridiumandcarbonisotopicabnormalityeventsandtheanoxiceventintheearlystageoftheSilurianatthattimemaybethemaincausefortheextinctionoftheHirnantia-Dalmanitinafauna.Keywords:GuanyinqiaoMember;Yangtzearea
