One day Bill met two of his old friends on his way home. Bill was very happy. He invited them to have lunch at a restaurant. They sat down at a table and ordered their lunch. They had a good time eating lunch and talking about the good old days. When the lunch was over, Bill wanted to pay the bill, but the other two friends didn’t want him to. Each (每一個) one of them would like to pay the lunch for the others. Finally, the restaurant owner came over to see what was happening. “Could you help us? ” asked Bill. “We are friends and we can’t decide who should pay. But now all of us agree (同意) that the one who runs the most slowly has to pay. Would you be the judge (裁判) for us?” The owner agreed. So the race (比賽) began. The three men were on the street in front of the restaurant and they were ready to run. “ Ready? ” said the owner. " Run ! ” On hearing the sound, Bill, as well as his friends, ran as fast as they could. No one came back to the owner.

Humor (幽默) plays an important part in our daily life. Some certain jokes (玩笑) even will help us from some trouble we make. Here are two of them.
One day Mr. Brown was watching some students taking a test. Mr. Brown was not the students’ teacher, who couldn’t come because he was sick. During the test one of the students peeped (偷看) at other classmates’ test papers again and again. Mr. Brown noticed it and said, “You cheated (騙取) !” "Well,” said the student, “I did. You don’t know my name, do you?” “No,” answered Mr. Brown. “That’s quite good,” saying that, the student mixed (參雜) his paper with the other ones which have already been on Mr. Brown’s desk.
