---She said she would help me with my work, but I doubt whether she was in earnest. ---It is raining so hard. I doubt that John will come.

1) I live in my house as I live inside my skin: I know more beautiful and more attractive skins, but it would seem to me unnatural to exchange them for mine. 我住在房子里如同我存在于皮肤里一样:我知道有更美丽迷人的皮肤,但如果要我与之交换的话,我会感到不自在的。

2) Home is the place where we are treated the best, but complain the most. 家是款待我们最好的地方,也是我们抱怨最多的地方。

3) The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family.

Conversion is one of the word-formation processes in English. It is done when a word changes its class without any change of its form. Typical cases of conversion include noun→verb, adjective→verb, verb→noun and adjective→noun. Sometimes, conversion can also be observed

when an auxiliary verb, an adverb or conjunction is used as a noun or a verb.

e.g. Besides the usual household routine, she oversees the garden and beehives, bakes bread, cans and freezes, drives the kids to their music lessons, practices with them, takes organ lessons on her own, does research and typing for me, writes an article herself now and then, tends the flower beds, stacks a little wood and delivers the eggs. (Line27, Text A, Unit1, Book III) …(look at the text book on Page 19)

---The world is full of excuses, so don‘t but me so many buts. ---They downed a few beers and began to sing loudly.

1) For the past two decades there has been a rise in the number of single-parent families because of the ever-rising divorce rate in the country. (rise: verb→noun)

2) As one of the best football teams in the country, our team got all the way to the final before being beaten. (final: adjective→noun)

3) My father is a regular in that restaurant, and all of the waiters know him. (regular: adjective→noun )

4) Most hotels allow their own guests to cash their checks for small amounts, but guests have to go to the banks for larger ones. (cash: noun→verb)

5) To protect our environment, it is important to let everybody know the hows and whys of recycling. (how / why: interrogative adverb→ noun )

8) This wine was produced in France, but it was imported in large containers and bottled in China before it was sold. (bottle: noun→verb)

9) He needed money but would not lower himself to picking up coins on the street. (lower: adjective→verb) 他需要钱,但决不会沦落到街上捡钱的地步。
