Movies are undoubtedly the most influential art form of the 20th century, and Hollywood is always regarded as the movie capital of the world. Before Hollywood became synonymous with a movie powerhouse , it was just a small town in western America. In the 1910s, small troops of actors and directors ventured into it and later it became quite popular due to its cheap land and labor, its varied scenery, and its ideal climate . This is how the American movie industry was born. Nowadays, the name of the place has become a symbol of film glory , a symbol of great fortune , and a symbol of a fulfilled American dream as well as sorrow, disappointment and broken hearts. Today, although major picture houses have had to build their properties in other places surrounding Hollywood because of the lack of real estate, Hollywood is still the center of the movie world, with many well-known places of interest such as Beverly Hills, Walk of Fame, and Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Moreover, Hollywood is also home to many venues and theaters that host award shows like the Academy Awards (the Oscars).
