Part Three: Write and Produce Exercises I. The chart below shows the amount of leisure time enjoyed by men and women of different employment status. Write a report describing the information shown below.

答案:The bar chart indicates the amount of leisure time per week that males and females of various employment statuses enjoyed over a one year period of time from 1998 to 1999. The employment statuses referred to here are grouped into five categories which are: employed full-time, part-time, unemployed, retired and housewives.

As is indicated in the chart, under the backgrounds of being employed full-time, unemployed and retired, males had more leisure time to enjoy than females did. But with the other two statuses, namely, being employed part-time and being pure housewives, males had nothing to compare with females.

Firstly, unemployed and retired males and females enjoyed the greatest amount of leisure time. The average weekly leisure time enjoyed by males and females were 85 hours and 70 hours respectively. Among those who were retired, men had 84 hours while women had 69 hours. Generally speaking, males and females under these two statuses of employment showed very slight difference in terms of the amount of leisure time being enjoyed.

Secondly, for those who worked full-time, males also had more leisure time than females

and the chart showed that males had 45 hours while women 37 hours.

Thirdly, what is really interesting is that while it is totally understandable that the Housewives category had nothing to do with men, it was really hard to believe that the category of being employed part-time only involved females and no males. Whatsoever, the figure we see is 40 hours for part-time employed females and 50 hours for housewives.

In general, apart from two very special groups, males had more leisure time to enjoy than females.

II. The map and four pie charts indicated the land used in the United States from four different regions: central, south, southwest and southeast. Write a report describing the information shown below.

答案: The map and the four pie charts indicated the land use in the USA from four different regions: central, south, southeast, and southwest. Please write a report for a university lecture. The map and the four pie charts indicated current situation of land use in four different regions in the United States, which are respectively central, south, southeast and southwest.

Despite the fact that crop is dominant in land use in all four regions, the distribution for four regions are somehow different.

Land use in southeast and southwest is very much the same in that crop dominates for over a half in the region, and other accounts for the least part, with the rest of the pie equally distributed between animal and forest.

In the south region, crop takes up about half of the land, followed by animal, forest and other in a decreasing order. And for central, crop, though taking the lead, occupies only about 40 percent, leaving the rest part shared equally by animal, forest and other.

In general, with crop far at the top on the list of percentage of land use in the US, animal, forest and other share the rest of the land according to different situations in different regions.
