Important Note: The Oracle Text component must be installed. The Text component is installed by default in Oracle 10g and 11g; however, if you did not do a default installation, the Text component may not have been installed. Oracle 10g R2 (10.2.0.x) Requirements
Oracle 10.2.0.3 ST_GEOMETRY users - need to apply Oracle Patch that fixes Oracle bug 6756089
Oracle 10.2.0.3 ST_GEOMETRY users - please see KB Article 34460 on the Esri Support site
Required Configuration: When ArcSDE 10 (32-bit) is installed on a Windows or Linux 32-bit operating system (OS), you must use an Oracle10gR2 32-bit client to access an Oracle10gR2 64-bit database. This must be done for both application server and direct connections. Instructions for setting up ArcSDE 10 (32-bit) using the Oracle10gR2 32-bit client to connect correctly to the Oracle10gR2 64-bit database are as follows:
? Install the 32bit Oracle 10gR2 (10.2.0.3) client software (see Oracle Support
for download, install and setup instructions).
? Create a service name using the 32bit Oracle 10gR2 Net Manager you just
installed to connect to your 64bit Oracle10gR2 database.
? Install and setup ArcSDE 10 making sure you are using the correct version of
the 32bit Oracle 10gR2 install. Use the 32bit Oracle 10gR2 service name you defined above for the connection to the 64bit Oracle10gR2 database. Oracle 10g R2 Database Patch Support
Oracle 10.2.0.3 or higher Oracle10gR2 Patch. This includes Oracle 10g Release 2 patch set levels and Oracle Interim (One-Off) Patch as per Oracle Corporation's Patch Set Overview and Interim Patch documentation. Oracle 11g (11.1.0.x) Requirements
NOTE: To use Oracle's native XML type, you must use Oracle 11.1.0.7 with one of the following patches applied:
? 8593954 - For Linux 32 bit and 64 bit, Sun Solaris, HP-UX Itanium, and IBM
AIX
? 8655458 (patch 15) - For Windows 32 bit ? 8655460 - For Windows 64 bit
Also note that if there is no native ArcSDE build for the operating system of the server hosting the Oracle database, then there is no support for SQL access to ST_Geometry or ST_Raster. ST_Geometry and ST_Raster storage can be used from ArcSDE clients, but SQL access to this data is not supported.
Required Configuration: When ArcSDE 10 (32-bit) is installed on a Windows or Linux 32-bit operating system (OS), you must use an Oracle11gR1 32-bit client to access an Oracle11gR1 64-bit database. This must be done for both application server and direct connections. Instructions for setting up ArcSDE 10 (32-bit) using the Oracle11gR1 32-bit client to connect correctly to the Oracle11gR1 64-bit database are as follows:
? Install the 32bit Oracle 11gR1 (11.1.0.7) client software (see Oracle Support
for download, install and setup instructions).
? Create a service name using the 32bit Oracle 11gR1 Net Manager you just
installed to connect to your 64bit Oracle11gR1 database.
? Install and setup ArcSDE 10 making sure you are using the correct version of
the 32bit Oracle 11gR1 install. Use the 32bit Oracle 11gR1 service name you defined above for the connection to the 64bit Oracle11gR1 database. Oracle 11g R1 Database Patch Support
Oracle 11.1.0.7 or higher Oracle 11g Patch. This includes Oracle 11g Release 1 patch set levels and Oracle Interim (One-Off) Patch as per Oracle Corporation's Patch Set Overview and Interim Patch documentation.
Windows Server 2008 64bit is supported on Oracle 11.1.0.7 64bit as the base version. Oracle 11g R2 (11.2.0.x) Requirements
NOTE: Oracle 11.2.0.1 users - may need to apply Oracle Patch 8795792. See KB Article 38470 for more information.
Required Configuration: When ArcSDE 10 (32-bit) is installed on a Windows or Linux 32-bit operating system (OS), you must use an Oracle11gR2 32-bit client to access an Oracle11gR2 64-bit database. This must be done for both application server and direct connections. Instructions for setting up ArcSDE 10 (32-bit) using the Oracle11gR2 32-bit client to connect correctly to the Oracle11gR2 64-bit database are as follows:
? Install the 32bit Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.1) client software (see Oracle Support
for download, install and setup instructions).
? Create a service name using the 32bit Oracle 11gR2 Net Manager you just
installed to connect to your 64bit Oracle11gR2 database.
? Install and setup ArcSDE 10 making sure you are using the correct version of
the 32bit Oracle 11gR2 install. Use the 32bit Oracle 11gR2 service name you defined above for the connection to the 64bit Oracle11gR2 database.
