近二十年来，多元文化在美国发起了激烈的争论；美国多元文化
是在美国社会日趋多样化的基础上逐渐形成的。美国各文化群体争取平等地位，平衡文化价值观，而使美国成为一个文化多元的国家。本文从美国多元文化的特征，表现和产生原因讨论了其历史以及中国对美国多元文化形成的影响的表现。还有这些表现充分地说明中国文化的渊博和中国文化元素在美国流芳溢彩。而语言是文化的载体，是一个民族的象征。作为中国文化重要代表的汉语在美国的影响力在日益提升；汉语已成为美国人学习第二语言的第一选择。

Last two decades, there was a heated debate launched on multiculturalism in the United States. American multiculturalism is formed on the basis of diversity of American society. All the cultural groups fight for equal status and balance of cultural values, which has made America into a multicultural country. This essay discusses the history of American multiculturalism from the angles of its features, the manifestations and the causes of its formation. Meanwhile, because China became more and more powerful, its influences on the American multiculturalism are great. And these performances continuously explain the Chinese culture?s profound impact on American culture. culture; Chinese cultural elements remain excessively attractive in the U.S. And as the carrier of culture, language is the symbol of a nation. As Chinese culture?s influence on the United States is increasingly rising, Chinese has become the first choice to Americans who learn a second language.

I. Introduction to the American culture
America is a young state with a short history. Two hundred and thirty four years has passed since it declared its independence. And America is a multiethnic and multiracial state. That is to say, America consists of different people from different regions and countries in the world. And now, every year there are numerous immigrants rushing to America. American culture thus is multiplex.
A. The origin of the American culture
America is a state of many races; now its existing races are more than 200. Therefore its culture is the so-called multiculturalism. The sources of American culture are multiple. Under the influence of natural environment and social conditions in the North American continent, the cultural heritage of American, assimilating the excellent culture of various nationalities - European culture, American Indian culture and black African culture, Asian culture, Latin American culture (mainly Mexican culture), and Jewish culture, comes into being with multi-cultural integration.

B. The features of the American culture
The vitality of American culture, first of all lies in its openness. The United States is an absolute \country. Rapidly developed, and America being an economic superpower，its economy depends on its openness. The United States brought in fast food, amusement park, film, which led to the development of the U.S. economy. For example, it was not the United States that initiated the fast food. Before the Big Mac coming into being, there were the fried fish and chips.（这是啥意思？）
The United States is a country of immigrants. Immigrants, bringing their native cultures, established a community in this new land, which formed the American multiculturalism. If they want to establish a strong and prosperous country, they must continuously absorb other cultures. Therefore, the United States has always insisted on opening to the world. To the first-class talents, the U.S. welcomes them to boost its development of economy and culture.
In the Westward Movement, people moved frequently. This continuous and high frequency of relocation makes people be always in a “flow” state. They have stronger ability to tolerate and accept the variety of temporary phenomenon. Day by day, Americans developed a high degree of cultural tolerance. They tolerate the different opinions, different attitudes, different traditions, different lifestyles and different cultures.
To talk about the American tolerance, there are some typical examples. For example, Christians celebrate their festivals, and Chinese celebrate the spring festivals, etc.
