Abstract
Naturalconstructionisthekeynoteoftheidea“toreconstructthecontemporaryChineselocalarchitecture”proposedbyProf.WangShu,thedeanofSchoolofArchitecture,ChinaAcademyofArt.Byrethinkingtheproblemthatthemodemarchitecturehasattached
astoomuchimportancetotheconceptandwayofexpressionindesign,aswelldisadvantageofthecompleteapplicationofthe
westernarchitecturaleducationsystemtothedomesticarchitecturaleducation,thesignificanceofnaturaIconstructionresearchtothearchitecturaldesign.researchandteaching
Theresearch
serialresearchononisreinforced.rammedearthconstructioninthisthesisisthebasictechniqueresearchofthenaturalconstructionpresidedbyProf.WangShu.It’sobviousthatthistendency
toofattachingimportancethematerialandconstructionresearchhasdirectacademicassociation
withthetectonictheorybyFrampton.Butinthistheory.onlYtwobasicconstructionmodes—masonryandframework—havebeendiscussed.AbasicquestionraisedbyProf.WangShuiswhyrawearthasoneofthemostbasicconstructionmaterialsandrammedearth
notasthemostbasicwaysofconstructionhave
onbeenincludedinthediscourse.Guidedbythisquestion.thetectonicresearchanrammedearthinthisthesisisattempttodiscussFrampton’stectonictheorywiththemeaningof
onadjustment.At
asthesametime.refertothetectonictheory,theresearchnaturalconstructionobtainsareitsvalueorientation.TraditionalbuildingsandtheirconstructionalculturebeingdisappearingasurbanizationinChinaisproceeding.ThecontemporaryapplicationofnaturaImaterialssuch
areearth.stone。woodandbambooandthepreservationoftraditionalbuildings
culturallysignificant.
Bylayingparticularemphasis
inconstructionandtakingcasesonbothecologicallyanddiscussingtherammedearthmaterialsandtechnicalproblemsoframmedearthapplicationintraditionalandcontemporaryconstruction.thethesiscomparesrammedearthwithmasonryandframeworkstructuralsystemfromtheperspectiveoftectonicsandillustratestheuniquenessoframmedearthbecauseofthe“templateconstruction”and‘‘rammedconstruction’’technologiesandthefeasibilityoftheapplicationofotherrawearthconstructionmethodsappliedinmodemarchitectureandconstructionsystem
necessityandimportanceoframmedearthconstructionresearchwillbeestablished.
Basedonsothatthetheresearchonrammedearthconstruction,thethesistriestomaketheoreticaldebate
onfromthetectonicperspectivethislong-existed(inthebottomsociety)constructionmodewhich
isinspiredbytheFrenchstructuralismphilosophy,speciallyL6vi—Straussstructuralanthropologythoughts,andspeculaterammedearthconstructionanditsdevelopmentintermsofcriticalregionalism.Italsotriestoinvestigatethepossibilityoftheapplicationoframmedearthtraditionandtheinnovativedevelopmentinordertosupportthetheoryandpracticeofpreservationandcontemporaryapplicationoframmedeartharchitecture.Relevantdesignconceptguidedbythenaturalconstructionconceptwillbereflectedincorrespondingarchitecturaleducationsystem.whichwill
thewestern—basedarchitecturaleducationsystem.TheseedofnaturalconstructionconceptwilIadjust
beburiedintheundergraduatearchitecturaleducation,growingregionally“fromearth”.
Inthelastpartofthisthesis,investigationonthepresentraweartharchitectureinChinaandforeignreferentexperienceismadeinordertoIookintothefuturedevelopmentofeartharchitectureinChina.
