Besides watch keeping duties, I am responsible for the care of all lifesaving appliances and fire fighting equipment and to ensure that all of them are normal. I shall keep the safety equipment record book.

In 2006, my vessel visited the port of Miami in USA.
After my vessel got alongside, the PSC officers came on board to conduct a PSC inspection. Our captain received them, and then they started the inspection.
At first, they had some inspection on certificates such as Load Line, Safety Construction, Safety Equipment, IOPP, DOC and SMC.
Then they inspected the emergency generator and lighting, main and emergency fire pump, fixed deck foam fire fighting system, fire detection system, fire and so on.
At last, they took a deck walk to see the ship?s structure and watertight integrity.
They were quite satisfied with our ship?s good maintenance work and finally, we passed through the PSC inspection.
