LEAN MANUFACTURING APPLICATION
IN CW WORKSHOP
ABSTRACT
With the development of China's reform and opening up, China is making a series of
policies to improve people's livelihood, and the appreciation of the Renminbi, etc. All of
above led to the manufacturing industry facing the bigger pressure of survival in China,
especially for the export-oriented enterprises. At the same time, the management level in
the manufacturing industrial is increasing with the introduction of foreign enterprises.
However, quality、cost、delivery are the three most key performance indicators for the
manufacturing enterprises. To improve the competitiveness of all above items, lean
manufacturing has been introduced and implemented in the enterprises. As a new mode of
production, Lean manufacturing tell us all of waste should be eliminated, and non-value
added items are the waste, so we should improve or eliminate it.
This paper analyze the CW yield & efficiency in Oerlikon with IE's basic theories
and methods, such as work measurement、line balancing, combined with lean
manufacturing tools, like value stream mapping. And some problems have been found in
CW lines, such as the product yield is low, the low line balancing rate, unreasonable
layout caused waste of handling, and so on, so all of these wastes should be eliminate.
Therefore, the above issues should be improved by using the Kaizen、line balancing,
Kanban management, to achieve the goal of waste elimination and promote the lean tools
and ideas in the production line.
In addition, we have improved the yield & efficiency, reduced the WIP, and shortened
the delivery time by the implementation of lean manufacturing. All of these are to meet
the customer satisfaction, and has brought the company with great economic benefits. At
the same time, it also accumulated valuable experience of lean manufacturing for other
product lines.
