dinner与supper:
dinner意为―（中午或晚上吃的）正餐，主餐‖。supper意为―（通常指在家吃的）晚餐，晚饭‖。从意义上就可以看出dinner可以在中午吃，也可以在晚上吃，通常比较正式，比较丰盛。supper则较简单。在英式英语中supper也可以表示―夜宵‖。
